It’s fairly clear that many immigrants contribute to high crime rates and certain groups could almost be defined as un-American in their language, religion, and family lives. They concentrate in cities and their votes are all but completely controlled by the liberal democrat machine.
A continued uncontrolled large influx of new workers will undermine wages; indeed, big business actually would love to import workers to continue to de-stabilize unions and provide a large, inexpensive labor pool. At the very least, it is time we "Americanize" new arrivals. I hope you’ll agree.
The American Protective Association has been formed to fight the dangers that unbridled immigration pose for the United States. It is already clear that certain mass immigration we have been seeing is destroying our public school system, which has always acted as the basis for civil and civics education in our society. Some school systems, as in California, are already so overwhelmed that they may not be able to recover.
Some very basic principles for the APA are being put forth for discussion and review.
Statement of Principles
First: Loyalty to true Americanism, which knows neither birthplace, race, creed, or party, is the first requisite for membership in the American Protective Association.
Second: We consider the non-sectarian free public schools, the bulwark of American institutions, the best place for the education of American children. To keep them as such we protest against the employment of subjects of any non-citizens as officers or teachers in our public schools.
Third: We protest against the enlistment in the United States army, navy, or the militia of any State, of any persons not an actual citizen of the United States.
Fourth: We demand for the protection of our workers, the prohibition of the importation of cheap labor, and the restriction of immigration to persons who can show their ability and honest intention to become self-supporting American citizens.
Fifth: We demand the change of the national naturalization laws by the repeal of the act authorizing the naturalization of minors without a previous declaration of intention, and by providing that no alien who cannot speak the language of the land, and who cannot prove seven years continuous residence in this country from the date of his declaration of intention become a naturalized citizen.
Sixth: We protest against the gross negligence and laxity with which the Judiciary of our land administer the present naturalization laws, and against the practice of naturalizing aliens at the expense of the common good.
So, is this an interesting proposal, or at least a place to start, perhaps?
Too late. The above text was re-phrased from the links below. The American Protection Association was formed in 1887. Its primary purpose was to combat Catholic immigration. The cartoon and caption are from the same period.
In 1896, immigration had long been contentious in presidential politics. Before the Civil War, some native-born Americans feared Irish Catholic immigration would undermine democracy and Protestantism, and such fears still lurked (for example, some whites joined the American Protective Association in the 1890s). New anxieties arose about immigrants from Southern and Eastern Europe, including Italians, Poles, Hungarians, and Russian Jews. Most whites saw Asian immigrants as even more inassimilable, and far more racially different, than Europeans.

I was freakin' till I got to the end. If memory
serves, the KKK was created to fight Catholics.
It morphed into anti-black after the Reconstruction. Nice piece there Dan. Stop by.
