After everything they've seen over the years I doubt it's lost on the Iraqi people that those purple fingers will likely be cause for some retribution and killing in the short term. As contemporary Americans we may never be able to appreciate the mass democratic courage being displayed today by these people. It's wonderful to see so many take such pride in something as beautiful as democracy, especially from my perspective here in America where sometimes we seem to take so much for granted in this regard.
