In developments reminiscent of Jimmy Swaggert a devastating and potentially career ending controversy is erupting around NRO and Kerry Spot columnist Jim Geraghty. As facts emerge the columnist will likely be forced to withdraw from Wizbang's 2004 Weblog Awards. And the breadth and nature of Geraghty's troubles could spell the end of his storied career as a "conservative" columnist.
It has been revealed and can now be documented that while phoning in his regular journalistic contributions the would-be conservative is actually an official of the Green Party (scroll down in link) and often spends his time cavorting in a manner unfit for his stature as a national conservative columnist and defender of Republican values issues. Apparently at least some of the local talent refers to the now disgraced Geraghty as "The Big Kahuna" at a time when his conservative credentials seem to be, um, withering. Maybe the water was just a tad too cold during his latest trip.
As the image on the right documents, Green Party official Geraghty clearly was leid at least twice during a recent undisclosed vacation to a sub-tropical clime and his Green Party links are proving too much for even die hard supporters to overcome.
The blogosphere is weighing in on the controversy. From:
Powerline - What island was it and do the leis cost extra? We have some left over blog ad money and if Geraghty can get leid twice, why not three uber-intelligent geeks who haven't taken a vacation in forever anyway.
Instapundit - Heh. Indeed!!
INDC - Awesome. Maybe I have a shot, after all.
Cranky Neocon - Shucks! I never get to have fun like that. Guess that's why they call me Cranky.
The Volokh Conspiracy - We'll need some time to ponder the legal ramifications of this one, we'll have to get back to you with a few internal links.
JustOneBite - I could party with that! But he'd have to lose the Bible.
Editors at NRO could not be reached for comment but conservative bloggers are clamouring for Geraghty to immediately withdraw from the Wizbang Awards. They are also strongly urging all voters with a genuine comittment to the values represented by most conservatives and exemplified by President Bush's recent re-election to show Geraghty, who is a MSM member, after all, that this kind of injudicious behavior won't be tolerated. Supporting INDC in what has up until now been a one-sided contest might be the best blow one can strike for traditional American values since voting for President Bush on Nov. 2.

I'm no Ralph Nader or Ross Perot! Little ole me has officially withdrawn so my fifteen readers will vote for Bill.
