CNN.com - Poll: Presidential race still tight - Oct 17, 2004
I guess "likely voters" are so insignificant you have to read 6 paragraphs deep in the CNN story to get to the 8 point spread for Bush. Naturally the headline says "Race Still Tight." They must have hated to even run the story. Maybe they'll get out of the polling business if these results continue.
But among likely voters Bush had a larger spread -- 52 percent to 44 percent. That compared with a 49 percent to 46 percent edge for Bush in the previous poll.
Update: With a ht to Betsy for the idea. Contrast the CNN handling of the announcement above with the way Newsweek handled the story when Kerry supposedly had his big "comeback" after the first debate. The MSM could not be anymore obvious in their positioning of the news and polls to gin up a story and prop up the disastrous sagging Kerry campaign in the process. When Senator ditz flop moves in the polls it's front page news - Bush they need to bury in paragraph 6.
The Race is On With voters widely viewing Kerry as the debate’s winner, Bush’s lead in the NEWSWEEK poll has evaporated

While you and others rightly focus on Clinton Network News [CNN], Washington Pravda, and the New York Izvestia discoloring of the news, a more unconstitutional thing is taking place. At NPR, a publicly-funded 527, the taxes paid by Republicans and independents are used to fund Kerry's campaign.
