PoliPundit is ruminating about landslides in an interesting post and link. I confess I've started doing the same thing, but for somewhat different reasons. Kerry IS behind. He has begun seriously pandering to his base, as Dems always do when in trouble. I refer you to recent tactics as regards the draft in targeting the youth vote and his use of racially divisive rhetoric to turn out minorities.
This is a last ditch and terribly dangerous tactic doomed to defeat. Middle America doesn't care for those tactics, they haven't for quite some time. In order for a Dem or lib to get elected, they have to stay enough in the middle - ala Clinton, and even Gore. Kerry's new tactics only support Bush's labeling him as a card carrying liberal to the broader electorate. With news traveling as fast and as wide as it does today, he can't get away with it in Fla. then change his message when in Ohio and maintain his credibility.
Barring a HUGE October surprise Kerry is done. And the same bad advice he's been getting all along from the Clintonista's, deliberate, or not, is taking his run for the presidency right down the shute. The issues PoliPundit suggests could easily contribute to a potential landslide effect. That said, this thing won't be over until it's over, please stay determined and VOTE! We may just be back to getting that mandate most have wanted all along.
The Landslide Faction: Might the normal tendency of voters to ‘go with the winner’ be magnified this year because many voters who don’t feel strongly about the candidates do feel strongly that they don’t want it to be a close election with all the attendant Florida style recount madness.

How was the president in NJ today? Is there a realistic shot?
