Tomorrow must be hypocrisy Sunday judging from these three blurbs.
While Kerry campaigned in the Midwest, The New York Times prepared to endorse him for president on Sunday. The newspaper praised Kerry's lifetime of public service and said he is "blessedly willing to re-evaluate decisions when conditions change.""He strikes us, above all, as a man with a strong moral core," the paper said.
Maybe irony is a better word, as in praising him for his flexibility ... and strong moral core. Good thing they didn't say "compass," there's no way to know which way it'll be pointing tomorrow, except toward a potential vote or two. What I believe they are really saying is that they endorse and praise him because they are hoping he's the type of weak world leader who will cut and run from Iraq and defer to the UN. And any endorsement is pathetic when it is obviously framed as much, if not more, to take a shot at one's opponent than really endorse you. And "blessedly," ha ha that language from the sinister, secularist NYT's is truly laughable. And the globe:
The Boston Globe was also endorsing Kerry on Sunday. "He is best suited to heal our painful rifts now — not just with the community of nations but within this nation, rent by social, ideological, economic and religious diversions. ... We are confident a Kerry presidency will restore both unity and strength," a Globe editorial said.
Excuse me, but Kerry and his junior partner senator sock-puppet are running a campaign based almost entirely on class warfare and race baiting, witness Edwards comments in Fla. today. What nerve ... what utter nonsense. "Unity and strength?" for whom? A corrupt world government as defined by the UN? And pardom me for pointing it out, but the Globe endorsement is just plain stupid and poorly written. " ... social, ideological, economic and religious diversions." Diversions? Diversions? Diversions from what? Are they simply taking the "diversion" meme from the Kerry campaign? The discussion, debate and resolution of those and other issues represent the very fabric of our national discourse - what in God's name are they a "diversion" from - WINDSURFING? Well, afterall, it is only the Globe. I suppose the editorial board shouldn't be expected to be anything other than a bunch of broken down drunken hacks. But, geesh, they could have at least stolen the "blessedly" line from the Times and tried to fake being intelligent. And this last bit is also a real scream. Kerry had a mass done while in Ohio.
Father Lawrence Hummer, nevertheless, gave the moment an election-year flavor by criticizing church officials who condemn Catholic politicians who speak out for abortion rights, calling on them to use patient persistence and bring them into the fold."There are many people who think that the destruction of Iraqi life is as direct an assault on the sacred as is the taking of unborn life. There are many people who regard the death penalty as an admission of the smallness of our nature rather than evidence of our greatness."
The destruction of Iraqi life? Will someone kindly drag the good father to a TV so he can see some of the mass graves we've been excavating in Iraq. In his opinion the Catholic Church needs to practice patience with those who go against church doctrine to take innocent unborn life while damning a movement that gives freedom and democracy to millions? There's a peace loving Jesuit Judas if I ever saw one. Let him take it up with the Pope - just so long as he keeps his hands to himself around my kid. Idiot!
