There's a terrific read on change in the media brought about by blogging. It's posted by Alan at The Command Post. When I step back from the purely political and think about the ways in which the world is changing because of the internet, it's truly amazing to me. Society is increasingly organizing itself around information, as opposed to geography, or class, or anything else. So much for the world view.
In a political context I believe this serves the Right very well. The more "information based" the world, obviously the better "informed" it is. As I genuinely believe that the Right is more logic driven and the Left is more emotion driven, the more American's "learn," the more likely they are to adopt opinions and positions I view as conservative. Why? Because it just makes sense, of course. ;-) Take a look at The Command Post through the link above.
The balance of power has changed … the consumer is now the one in charge. He’s increasingly demanding unique and increased value, and however he likes it … cars, banks, or news … thanks to information technology, is how he expects to get it.
And it’s an expectation he increasingly has the power to meet. If papers like the Herald-Journal are to remain relevant, it’s an expectation their newsroom of the future will have to satisfy … or they’ll risk losing that consumer forever.
