Rick Santorum talked to supporters at a rally (above) in Moline, Illinois yesterday on the eve of Tuesday's primary, which he's projected to lose to Mitt Romney. Tonight Santorum is in the "next must-win state, Pennsylvantia," where he gave "his own Gettysburg address," following Romney's victory speech, which picked up on Santorum's signature theme. More on that below. (Charlie Riedel / AP Photo)

"The issue in the presidential race is not the economy," but an oppressive government that's taking away people's freedom, Rick Santorum told a Rockford, Illinois rally yesterday on the eve of tonight's primary, even as "polls show the economy is the foremost issue for American voters." But polls, like interviews, are only as good as the questions asked, and we think the WSJ's William McGurn is onto something when he speaks of a candidate "disdained by a media [pollsters included] that literally cannot comprehend what he is saying." Counting himself "among the conflicted," McGurn weighs the pros and cons of "The Improbable Mr. Santorum" …

  1. DBW says:

Remind me again–who won the primary in Illinois tonight, and who is actually going to be the Republican nominee?
I think they are the same person.

  2. DBW says:

One other thing–this “historically low turnout” theme? It’s not because of any lack of passion on the right. It’s because LOTS of people are going to vote for the Republican nominee, no matter who it is. The Democrats are trying to sell the lack of turnout as a negative for the Republicans. They are deluding themselves.

  3. Ragspierre says:

“It’s not because of any lack of passion on the right.”
    Support?

  4. Ragspierre says:

Yesterday I pointed out that the production of fossil fuels on federal lands is down from fiscal 2010 to fiscal 2011 (October 1, 2009, to September 30, 2010, compared to October 1, 2010, to September 30, 2011). This is significant because the administration is . . . well, lying. Not long ago, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said, “The fact of the matter is we are producing more from public lands — both oil and gas, both onshore as well as offshore, than any time in recent memory.” Not only is Salazar wrong, he’s wrong for every type of fossil fuel produced on federal lands.

The Obami are liars. Let everyone you know in on the truth.

  5. Southern Values says:

Oh, there’s plenty of passion, there’s just not enough of a majority of American opinion that aligns to the message. Women represent the majority of the voting population. Minorities represent the largest growth segment. Where is the message resonating beyond older, white, low information voters?

  6. Ragspierre says:

    Ever read, SubHuman Values…???
I mean, outside the moonbat echo chamber.

  7. Southern Values says:

So women don’t make up a majority of the electorate or minorities aren’t the largest growing segment?
Lastly, what is the age / racial make-up of the Republican party? Demographics, like better information, will be your inevitable demise.

  8. Southern Values says:

I have it on good authority that Ragspierre has used the pills you’re referring to. The problem, as I understand it, was when he took the pills, so much blood flowed out of his brain he turned into Santorum.
In some quarters this may seem like an issue, but not for a member of the Republican Party. For those types, being a large dick is very helpful since one doesn’t need a lot of brain power to regurgitate platitudes constructed as Bumper Sticker WorldviewsTM

  9. Ragspierre says:

    You betcha, Henry.
So do those perpetual motion machines you see in your email…
Oh, and those Nigerians who need your help with their inheritance…TOTALLY righteous…

  10. Ragspierre says:

“I have it on good authority that…”
What SubHuman Values means is that his punk-meisters have packed him full of “authority” again, and sent him out to make a fool of himself in service to the Collective.
Wasn’t this the same cretin who a few months ago was calling Palin kids “illegitmate” and “bastards”…???
    Why, YES…!!! What a hater.

do these pills really work for improving my sex life? i was wonderin’ if anyone here knew.. ive been browsin the forums for a while and i value everyones opinion here..
I came across this site but i dont know if i should order or not.. I seen these pills being sold at Walmart and all over magazines im just not sure how many inches ill gain?
i was wondering if anyone here tried em

  13. Ragspierre says:

Yeah, Henry. If I see this again, I’ll email it to Dan.

  14. EBL says:

Rick Santorum says he is for “freedom” and curtailing out of control government, yet makes social conservative announcements and comments about libertarians that are contrary to those goals. So what gives? Rick Santorum is not going to be the GOP nominee because he has blown the chance to be the nominee by alienating potential supporters. But I welcome him trying and now is the time because right now he is on the cusp of extinction in this race.
Hence the Walking Dead analogy: http://evilbloggerlady.blogspot.com/2012/03/walking-dead-and-gop-primaries-analogy.html

  15. Ragspierre says:

    Etch-A-Sketch…??!???!?!?!
Have we talked about MESSAGING lately…???
    Holy crap.

  16. Liz says:

According to a report in the Daily Rash, Vice President Biden announced earlier today that he is endorsing Rick Santorum for president. http://www.thedailyrash.com/vice-president-biden-endorses-rick-santorum

  17. BR says:

Quote: “It’s because LOTS of people are going to vote for the Republican nominee, no matter who it is.”
    Really?
    From a YahooNews article (http://news.yahoo.com/gop-activists-fear-primary-takes-toll-romney-072425534.html):
    “…
But Mike McKenna, a GOP consultant from Richmond, Va., said Romney’s struggles in the primaries and caucuses point to serious problems this fall. Romney won 41 percent of the primary vote in his native state of Michigan to Santorum’s 38 percent, McKenna noted, calling it “hardly a dazzling performance.”
Romney’s margin was even smaller in Ohio, even though he again heavily outspent Santorum. McKenna, who conducts focus groups and polls, sees ominous trends. He predicts that one-fourth to one-third of all Republicans “will not vote for Romney” if he’s the nominee this fall.
    …”
Sounds accurate to me, because I know I’ll be one of the ‘one-fourth to one-third’.

  18. mike191 says:

Congrats to “southern values” for making women, whites and minority people, what ever that is defined by,into completly monolithic groups when it comes to voting and the subject of tyranny by this administration.

  19. Ragspierre says:

Yeh, mike. The Collective is indoctrinated to think of people only in terms of groups segregated by external, superficial BS, not as individuals.
    Crazy, huh…?

  20. Ragspierre says:

Obama is lying all over the place today about oil and the Keystone Pipeline.
    What a putz.

  21. Zelsdorf Ragshaft III says:

The problem as I see it is Romney is a moderate at best. The establishment GOP cannot learn the lesson Moderates do not win elections. Ford, Bush I, Dole. Moderates all. Santorum is not a true conservative in the sense he believes is small government. His voting record reveals this. Sadly, the only true conservative left in this race, and the only one with a message which would easily defeat Obama does not hold much of a chance to win this. Listen, then compare and constrast Gingrich’s speeches to that of Romney or Santorum. Listen to Gingrich talk about the price of gas. Santorum cannot grasp the idea that the economy is important because his ego tells him his message is what the American people need to hear. Santorum could not balance a scale let alone a budget. Romney’s record indicates he is a RINO, and cannot run on his own record, which was erased when he left office. Being a CEO of a money firm does not a President make.

  22. dinglewoodnorwoodbill says:

Gingrich’s polling numbers never show him competitive to Obama. Santorum’s in key swing states are the best, even better than Romney’s. In multiple polls, he shows up better.
Santorum is being given too bad a rap on spending. His record is not as bad as it’s being made out.
He supported the BBA before it was popular and even called out a ranking Republican to resign over lack of support all the way back to the early ’90s.
He’s the only shot we have left, his comments on etch a sketch are dead on, as was the idea that the country is is dead if we pick Romney as our standard bearer. A weak Obama with a strong GOP congress is almost better than Romney destroying the brand and betraying us left and right and on SCOTUS picks once in office. We lose all credibility to 3rd parties on issue after issues, starting with national health care.
Gingrich is nowhere near as conservative as many seem to think. His past statements and positions show that, though he’s better than Romney, obviously…

  23. Ragspierre says:

    Newt 30.4% (2 wins)
    Romney 30.2% (4 wins)
    Santorum 29.1% (7 wins)
    Paul 8.5%
If we combine the votes for the 5 conservative and two moderate candidates as explained here*, we get the following:
    Conservative bloc: 60.3%
    Moderate bloc: 30.4%

  24. Ragspierre says:

SANTORUM: Obama Is Preferable To Romney. No he’s not, and you just demonstrated that it’s time to end your campaign. Either you’re an idiot, or you’ve cracked under the pressure. Either way, go home.
    –InstaPundit
    I quite agree.
    Newt for 2012.

  25. ThomasD says:

Insty merely proves that he is neither Republican nor conservative.
He may be somewhat to the right of Romney, but Romney is the one running for POTUS as a Republican. In office, given his PROVEN track record of listing to the left, he would do terrible damage to the notion that that Republican party represents the choice for limited government, liberty, and the rule of law. Better that Obama be the one to carry the torch of big government nanny state progressivism.
Americans deserve a CHOICE not an ECHO.

  26. Godzilla says:

Sure, dinglewoodnorwoodbill, let’s give Obama a couple more supreme court justices, why not.

  27. BR says:

Well, let’s see – would Obama do worse on Supreme Court picks than the pleasingly moderate chameleon who instigated Romneycare, selected 9 (nine) Republican nominees out of 36 judicial appointments when he was governor, and thinks statesmanship is is a business plan to be constantly changed to fit customer preferences (principle, what’s that)? With Obama picking statists, at least there is a hostile Senate to provide some token damage limitation.
As seen on Pundit/Pundette: “If I want a technocratic nanny statist in the White house, I’ll stick with the current occupant. At least Obama limits his own damage with his incompetence.”
You want Obama-Lite-with-management-experience, go for it. There’ll be a lot of us who’ll just stand back and watch.

  28. Godzilla says:

How’d that hostile senate work out with Sotomayor?

  29. m says:

I am a Republican conservative. Santorum will not get my vote. I can’t vote for Santorum because I don’t like the way he acted been whiny and angry. Santorum is not conservative. He voted for the more government spending money and earmark spending when he was in the US Senate 10 years ago. Santorum does have a ‘lack’ of inexperience and leadership. Why did he lost the US Senate race in PA 10 years ago? then he want to run for President. Santorum will not get the nominee. I think Newt Gingrich is better than Santorum.

  30. Hope Change says:

Newt won the Baton Rouge Straw Poll with 53%. No one else was close. http://conservatives4newt.blogspot.com/2012/03/newt-easily-wins-lsu-college.html
Newt is ahead in the Fox Nation “Who can best win against Obama” poll.
As Dick Armey & Matt Kibbe wrote in the WSJ, “When we act like us, we win. When we act like them, we lose.”
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304636404577291882358562396.html?mod=WSJ_hp_LEFTTopStories
Newt is the champion at acting like US. Newt is defining the powerful solutions we can use to get out of this Leftist mess! A return to Freedom and Prosperity.
If you haven’t seen this speech below, yet, I highly recommend it. “2012: VICTORY OR DEATH.” It’s from 2009. A glimpse into Christams Eve, 1776 for George Washington and our early American heros. Why their password was “victory or death.” Analysis and anecdote about electoral politics– why 2004 was a wasted opportunity. Why 2006 was a performance firing for the Republicans. What America IS and what it means when we say that America is the “exceptional” nation. How we can restore our Constitution and win a decisive political victory in the American Tradition — now, this year, right now, 2012.
This speech gives you a blueprint of what we, the American People can do and how we’re going to do it. If you want hope for change, check it out.

Has anyone had experience with Trazadone?
I’m currently on Prozac and Mirtazapine, both anti-depressants for symptoms of my depression and borderline personality disorder.
I’ve wanted to come off Mirtazapine for a while as it has caused a lot of weight gain for me and often makes me hungry and hard to feel full up despite what I eat. The drs at my old surgery were unwilling to change my prescriptions, saying they wanted me to be seen by a psychiatrist. However they wouldnt refer me as I was in the process of moving from a hostel into my own place, so the psychiatrist would be for a different area. [url= [ Reply to this Comment ]
