OUCH! Van Susteren Smacks Down Carlson, While Carlson Hides Out
Oh man, talk about both barrels. Greta Van Susteren posits everything from his doing it for a failing website, to seemingly having no regard for women. She leaves Carlson looking like a ball-less non-wonder. OUCH!!
I don’t like it when I see that my friends do disgraceful things – but we need to start calling out even our friends to stop this. Tucker has daughters and a wife and I would think he in particular would not want to be a purveyer of smut (and this is actually more, this is violence against women) and allow this to be posted on his website. There is nothing funny about violence against women and repeating what a thug (I thought – even hoped – Tyson had outgrown that) says on a radio show is also not news. I know he loves his wife and children and would never want this said or reported about them….so why is it ok to report about another? This is not news.
I emailed Tucker yesterday and asked him about it. He did not reply. I wanted to know what action he was going to take about it since I really did not want to blog about it and felt some urge to protect him. 24 hours have passed and I have not heard from Tucker and it is still on the front page of his website.
So…I am calling him out on this. This is not about whether you are in favor of Governor Palin’s policies or not — this is about whether women should be treated this way and whether this is journalism. It is also about the willingness to stand up to a friend when he or she has gone way over the top and this is one instance where a friend has gone way over the top.
In case you have any doubt, there is an easy test as to whether this is deeply wrong. To all you Palin haters out there, ask yourself, would this be ok if this were written about others – eg Secretary of State Hillary Clinton? or Speaker Nancy Pelosi or any other woman leader? or put in the name of your mother….your daughter…your own name…your sister…etc.
Tucker can’t hide behind ‘this is news, it was said by Mike Tyson and we are simply reporting it.’ It is not news. This denigrates women. He knows that, I know that, you know that.
By the way….I can’t help but wonder what the women on The Daily Caller think.

Dan Riehl seems to have a bad habit of getting into p*$$ing matches with other conservatives. Very unbecoming and vulgar, if you ask me.
No one asked you. Go troll your blog elsewhere.
Sorry Dan, but this is the price you’re going to pay for standing up and being a Reagan Conservative in a Party led by too many politicians who mouth Reagan’s name but don’t give a damn for his convictions. Too bad the New Media types are almost all bought and paid for by K-Street.
Dan Riehl seems to have a habit of pointing to actus reus and that’s good for the Right side.
I don’t really know that much about Tucker Carlson, except I had the image that he was a rising star of conservative media. (I’ve heard him interviewed on various radio programs and seen him here and there on TV) But the way he allows employees on the Daily Caller to sling manure like monkeys at the zoo is a bit appalling. These antics are sure to sully the ‘Tucker Carlson’ brand that he’d been building not to mention reduce the credibility of the Daily Caller. He needs to have a PR person on retainer because this seems incredibly stupid and was completely avoidable. It seems he’s fallen into the beltway groupthink that it is somehow ‘ok’ to attack Gov. Palin and her family. Frankly, I don’t even see the point of attacking Gov. Palin as she isn’t a candidate. Maybe they’re just trying to get traffic to the site but there are better ways of doing it than starting a shitfight at a family reunion. Meh… maybe they’re trying to attract the average DailyKos or HuffingtonPost reader..who knows?
And NOTICE how Van Susteren does this.
It is NOT the Dan Riehl way. She critiques the DC and never REPUBLISHES the awful crap from the felonious thug.
She never finds it necessary to use “strap-on” or “pedophile” defamation of her own.
Lessons here…
But she is EFFECTIVE.
“bad habit of getting into p*$$ing matches with other conservatives”
Darling this isn’t about ‘p*$$ing matches’, this is about an increasing acceptance of degenerate and sickening behavior towards women who happen to be Conservative.
If you ask me, you can drown in Tucker Carlson’s sewer for all I care; the longer you remain there the more repulsive and repugnant and VULGAR you become.
“…this is about an increasing acceptance of degenerate and sickening behavior towards women who happen to be Conservative.”
Respectfully, Susan, that is only PARTLY true.
If you have ever had to listen to the common themes in rap and hip-hop you know they are savagely misogynistic, and that Tyson likely thinks of women generally the same way.
This is just part of the trajectory of popular music’s misogyny generally. Read some old Mick Jagger lyrics.
“a bad habit of getting into p*$$ing matches with other conservatives.”
Begged questions:
1. “other conservatives”. Tucker Carlson conservative? In his manner of attire?
2. “p*$$ing matches”. Pissing matches presumes a certain inconsequence which notion Greta has dispatched.
3. “bad habit”. In what way is intolerance of fools bad?
Did you notice that nowhere in the DC article is there the least mention of the radio jocks who are egging this brain-damaged, medicated black man into these statements, or their producer, or their station management, anyone of which could have shut this thing down at any time? You think ESPN thinks this is their corporate standard?
What a bizarro week it has been.
We’ve had the NYT & the Washington Post defending Palin while blogs on the right have outdone themselves with their vile and increasingly frantic attacks on Palin & Bachmann.
Yo yo yo, Roger Ailes needs ta be keepin his pimp hand HIGH wit’ dat Sustrin bitch, cause the Daily Caller be keepin’ it REEEEEAL,bruthas and sistas!
Speaking of bizarro…
I checked the Constitution, and he is under no compulsion to run for re-election. He can scrap the campaign, bag the fundraising calls and never watch another Republican debate as long as he’s willing to vacate the premises by Jan. 20, 2013.
That might be the sensible thing to do. It’s hard for a president to win a second term when unemployment is painfully high. If the economy were in full rebound mode, Obama might win anyway. But it isn’t, and it may fall into a second recession — in which case voters will decide his middle name is Hoover, not Hussein. Why not leave of his own volition instead of waiting to get the ax?
It’s not as though there is much enticement to stick around. Presidents who win re-election have generally found, wrote John Fortier and Norman Ornstein in their 2007 book, “Second-Term Blues,” that “their second terms did not measure up to their first.”

Wow.
Urkel is flailing. Few days back “If you love me..”, now “Odds are..”. As though winning or losing versus the GOP is a zero sum game.
In fact, one side can be tossed in dungeons awaiting show trials while the other affixed to meat hooks.
Tuesday Greece has a couple of payments due. Something less than a $1 Billion but when you’re tapped out you gots to go missing.
Dan: Thank you soooooo much for following this story. You have obviously struck a nerve. You are doing the job our elite, conservative, Ruling Class pundits won’t do.
Dan, don’t listen to the haters. Your point about a the denigration of women is spot on.
I like Dan Riehl even more now than I did before.
Dan, *Thank You* for standing up to these Daily Caller “Wonkette Wannbes.”
Your stock took yet another leap upwards in my book.
In my opinion, what motivates the Tucker Carlson’s on both the Right and Left is fear, thus hatred, of powerful women… the same emotions which drives rapists, the act of which is physical and emotion inflection of humiliation and degradation upon women.
A real man, a civilized man, who is secure in his manhood does not do this.
By glorifying a convict’s rhetorical rape is aiding and abetting rhetorical rape… an act of verbal violence.

When I saw the horrible Mike Tyson quote at the Daily Caller, I was beyond appalled, I felt emotionally assaulted by a vile story, the likes of which I would not expect at the Daily Caller. My gut reaction was that DC is trying to be as vile and immoral as The Huffington Post. Funny, the longer conservatives/republicans are around the beltway crowd, the more they want to be “accepted” by this crowd. You cannot have high standards, morals, or integrity if you want to be hip and cool. Good heavens, are there any men and women who can maintain their integrity in Washington?
