The GOP: A Party Without A Face, Just A Bunch Of Asses

By
June 21, 2011

With the White House held by an increasingly unpopular Democrat, just how hard should it be to mount a decent-looking early challenge to him right now?

Yet, Gingrich continues to implode and Huntsman can't even spell his name correctly. Pawlenty wants to talk tough to Romney, so long as he isn't in the same room with him, while Romney can't even buy pro-Life votes with the largest campaign chest out of everybody.

Meanwhile, half, or more of the GOP's allegedly now prominent media pundits are morons, as per previous link. Did the circus lay-off causing all these idiots to become Republicans, or did it close up, leaving some of the usual suspects with nowhere else to go?

Even if some wonder candidate emerges to win the day, the GOP primary and the 2012 general election, all of the above and more will still represent a significant portion of the Republican Party. There is good reason for conservatives and Tea Party-aligned folks to be worried about America. No matter what happens in the immediate political future, obviously, those worries aren't going to simply go away after November 2012.

We’re MONTHS away from the actual primaries.
    Settle down.

  3. Blackwater says:

Don’t worry. One Sarah Palin throws her hat in the ring we’ll forget about how useless the GOP is and start working on crushing Obama.

  4. What’s Bachmann, chopped liver?
Perry-Bachmann 2012 good enough to keep Mitt out too, imho
    Cheer up- good grief!

  5. sickofrinos says:

The republicans and there media minnions will get a lump of coal from xrepublicans turned unenrolled. These hacks on the right will loose America. Romney or Huntswomen, are you kidding me. That is some decision to make. Oh well-I’ll keep reloading and continue working on my marksmanship. Voting hell no in 2012, unless a conservative is in the race. The republican party has not hit bottom yet. And when it does, Lock and Load, because talking smart won’t matter.

  6. sartana says:

Be prepared to be disappointed in Bachmann, Reaganite. I don’t know- it’s just a feeling- but I think someone’s gotten to her and we’ll see a different Bachmann than we’ve gotten used to in the past couple years. I think someone made her an offer she couldn’t refuse.
I began to notice something different starting with the ridiculous “well I guess that settles it” when Stephanopoulos presented her with the first fake JPEG Birth Certificate, then it continued with her hiring of Ed Rollins and now this half-assed attempt at damage control with her supposed “rebuke” of him for his anti-Palin screed. She should have spent the entire first debate attacking Romney- but she was mum. I think she’s running as Romney’s VP.
I’d hope to be proven wrong but something’s very fishy.

  7. sickofrinos says:

sartana- Even with Bachmann as v.p. I will not vote for romney. In fact romney could have Jesus as his v.p. and would not get my vote.

  8. section9 says:

Bachmann is an Establishment stooge. People who don’t get that are blind. She wants to be Mitt’s veep, and will be sorely disappointed.
Watching the Republican field is like watching a bunch of Stalin’s generals in 1936 just before the Purges.

  9. m says:

I will not vote for these candidates like Romney, Huntsman, Gingrich, and Palin because they are not a real true conservative. I would like to see Gov. Rick Perry of Texas run for President. Perry will be a better choice on the 2012 Republican Party ticket.

  10. Huey says:

Already with the “I won’t vote if my guy/gal doesn’t win, because only he/she is a ‘true conservative.’”
    Already.
When will you people figure it out? Fight the “purity” fight in the primaries. Then, if you have an ounce of sense, in the general election, vote for the most conservative candidate who has a chance of actually winning.
    It’s not rocket science.

  12. Ragspierre says:

“As a consequence of that swift, decisive, and sometimes difficult period, we were able to take an economy that was shrinking by about 6 percent and create an economy that is now growing, and has grown steadily now over many consecutive quarters. Over the last 15 months we’ve created over 2.1 million private sector jobs.” (Laughter.)
The WH later scrubbed that (Laughter) to read (Applause). 1984 is here.
I’m with Rush. I’d vote for Elmer Fudd over the MEEEEEsiah.

  13. Terry says:

It’s sad to see the resident teabaggers so taken by conmen. Palin, Trump, Joseph Smith and his disciples and Rush and his crappy iced tea.
You guys are always good for a laugh!

  14. bob sykes says:

The truth is that a majority of Americans want all the benefits of socialism, and they will support anyone who offers them. It is probable that Obama will get re-elected. But even if he isn’t, a Republican President backed by a Republican Senate and House will not repeal either Obamacare or any of the rest of Obama’s legislation.
Of course, this means that the US will eventually look like Greece. What follows the collapse of a socialist state is most likely a fascist state. Fascists, after all, do provide socialist benefits.

  15. itsMike2Cents says:

“I’d vote for Elmer Fudd over (Obama).
I think your just the kind of voter most of these guys need, Ragspierre.
    Looney Toons indeed…
    “Joseph Smith and his disciples”
Terry…wtf is that supposed to mean?

  16. Terry says:

Joseph Smith was a charlatan. Look it up.

  17. Tennwriter says:

You got a bunch of people who know what they need to do, but are milling about, trying to avoid doing it. They all hate the guy in the corner telling them to do their job, but none of them can refute him, so they act confused instead. Each person is trying to be in charge, but not be responsible and not do their job, but at the same time they know the job needs to get done. Secretly they are hoping the guy in the corner does the job, and leaves them to have the glory of running things.

  18. itsMike2Cents says:

“Joseph Smith was a charlatan. Look it up.”
That seems like a different debate.
But if you’re looking to defend rank phobia or distrust of anyone who’s a Mormon – for that reason alone..well…a clumsy attempt.
But I’m betting maybe what you really object to is their politics and policy positions?
    I know I do.

  19. USA American says:

“Don’t worry. One Sarah Palin throws her hat in the ring we’ll forget about how useless the GOP is and start working on crushing Obama.”
Comedy gold. Despite having “the fire in her belly,” the Quitta cut short her bus tour of Real America half-way through: http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/06/22/report-palin-quits-bus-tour-halfway-through-retreats-to-alaska/
I wonder if she rode the bus all the way home to Alaska, or if she and her band of Grifters hopped a private jet, like all Real Americans do. Maybe the Quitta can get the constitution amended so that presidential terms are only 2 years instead of 4. That way she could complete a full term and her moronic supporters would be able to defend her resolve, without the threat of the cognitive dissonance exploding their faces.

  20. Drago says:

Terry: “Joseph Smith was a charlatan. Look it up”
    You know.
    Like Jeremiah Wright.
    Only less radical.
    And more coherent.
And no one alive today attended Joseph Smith-led church services for 20 years or call him a mentor.
I wonder why I mention this?

  21. Terry says:

I think that conning people into believing that Jesus came down from the heavens to talk to him in a field in NY state is pretty radical. Kind of like telling the rubes to be right afeared of them there WMDs in I-Raq.

  22. USA American says:

Don’t forget, Terry, Jeremiah Wright has the incorrect skin color – just like the President. So, he is de facto worse.

  23. Terry says:

This is TERRIBLE news for the slackjawed faithful that their Community College Queen quit her patriotic bus tour half way through. What kind of explanations will the faithful have?
    1. Sarah accomplished all she set out to on the bus tour and decided to be more effective elsewhere.
    2. Sarah decided to quit half way through the bus tour so as not to cause a distraction.
    3. Sarah decided to quit half way through the bus tour because she had to defend herself against frivolous lawsuits.
    Real America=Real Comedy Gold!

  24. Ragspierre says:

“Palin, Trump, Joseph Smith and his disciples and Rush.”
    Terry is a universal hater.
Bet he LOVES him some jihadists…!!!

  25. Ragspierre says:

“Jeremiah Wright has the incorrect skin color”
Ever notice that the Collectivists are the ones obsessed with race?
    Huh…

  26. Ragspierre says:

“I think that conning people into believing that Jesus came down from the heavens to talk to him in a field in NY state is pretty radical.”
See Mose, Burning Bush; see also Apostles, Ascension.

  27. USA American says:

“Ever notice that the Collectivists are the ones obsessed with race?”
No, pre-law student, pointing out the Teabilly/GOP obsession with race, does not mean that the pointer-outer is obsessed with race. You’ll learn that in your fourth year at Online Unaccredited Law University.
Maybe Chinless McConnell should run for president. At least he’s half-way honest. Here he is admitting that GOP opposition to Obama re Libya is pretty much just partisanship: http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/06/mcconnell-gop-outspoken-on-libya-because-theres-a-democrat-in-the-white-house.php?ref=dcblt
Of course, such is in keeping with the GOP’s intentional sabotage of any economic recovery while Obama is president.

  28. Terry says:

Ragspierre is an elderly DOCTOR of the law. I doubt that you even had to go to law school when he got that bar card that he is so VERY proud of. Typical teabagger, angry with an overinflated view of self.
    Mission accomplished!

  29. Ragspierre says:

    “…pointing out the Teabilly/GOP obsession with race…”
Reciting your own hate-filled delusions is not…like…an argument, idiot.
You will note that YOU injected The Wrong Rev. Wright’s race in this, while IGNORING his BLAZING anti-American, anti-Semitic, and RACE-hate views.
But, then, you agree with Wright…so…

  30. Sharon says:

The field is far from set even though Bachmann assures us we are satisfied with it. It’s still early. Let’s face it, most of America does not pay attention to politics. They really wouldn’t know a Perry from a Gingrich. Throwing your hat in this early means you A. Need the name recognition or B. Have the backing, and therefore as much money as you want, of the establishment. There’s a few people out there that need neither of those things right now. It makes sense for them to not “officially” declare but keep building in their own way. Unconventional, I know! But this is the 21st century, no?

  31. Ragspierre says:

“I doubt that you even had to go to law school when he got that bar card that he is so VERY proud of.”
Terry is demonstrating his AMAZING idiocy and ignorance…AGAIN…about academics and professional qualifications.
A decade or two ago, there were only TWO states in which you could “read the law” and sit for the bar exam; California and Maryland. All others required matriculation in an ABA approved law school. But some of our greatest lawyers and jurists never attended…or graduated from…a law school.
Terry continues his auto-beclowning, consistent with his stupid assertion that Palin graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from a “community college”.
I doubt Terry even has an associates degree.
Morons just can’t help displaying their stupidity…and doing it in the MOST hateful terms they can contrive.

  32. Ragspierre says:

Take a minute, UAssMORON, and regale us on our essential national interest in Libya.
Go on to explain how Obama is not pissing on the rule of law in ignoring the War Powers Act…which so many of his fellow Deemocrats and Collectivists have called him on.
Explain how that does not out-Nixon even Nixon in terms of dictatorial usurpation of power.
    Compare and contrast BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooosh.

  33. USA American says:

“Ragspierre is an elderly DOCTOR of the law. I doubt that you even had to go to law school when he got that bar card that he is so VERY proud of. Typical teabagger, angry with an overinflated view of self.”
I guess that makes some sense. It’s obvious that the angry dandy is not, nor has he ever been, a practicing lawyer. Not that there is anything wrong with that. It’s just pathetic when someone claims to be a “trial lawyer,” when he obviously doesn’t know how to make a simple “if, then” argument, and can’t support basic assertions with anything demonstrating factual evidence. It is pretty cute though that the “trial lawyer” preens on and on about his “bar card,” as if actual lawyers actually talk about their “bar cards” as a badge of esteem.

  34. Terry says:

Cmon, a 61 year old spending all day ranting on an blog about the “collective” and calling people “morons”. He’s a hack with entirely too much free time on his hands. He should get a hobby like watching Matlock or telling kids to stay off his lawn. Either that or less prune juice.

  35. Ragspierre says:

It is pretty cute though that the “trial lawyer” preens on and on about his “bar card…
    –UAssMORON.
Point to my latest mention of a “bar card”.
Conversely, I can readily point to your CONSTANT ad hominem BS respecting my profession.
See, you are BOTH a hateful liar, AND simply nuts.
But, an apt spokes-hole for the Collective.

On Libya, President Obama evaded rules on legal disputes, scholars say
Can you say illegal usurpation of dictatorial power???

  37. Doug Gonya says:

    Perry / Bachmann 2012
Now there’s a ticket I can get excited about. His executive experience as Governor of, by far, the most successful state in recent years. His great in debate and would skewer Obama both on the stump and in debate. Bachmann is a fantastic candidate, with huge support amongst the Tea Party, and could sway some of the midwest swing states to our side.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Pawlenty / Cain either.
I’d bet we win with any of the above four names at the top of the ticket. So, cheer up!
Think about where we were 4 years ago: McRino, Big Gov Romneycare, social con but fiscal liberal Mike Huckabee. That’s 0 for 3 on candidates that a Conservative could get excited about (though, Huckabee the Fox contributor and Obamacare opponent is much better than his fiscal track record as Governor).
The main problem we are going to have in the primary season is making sure that Democrats don’t show up at Republican primaries in sufficient numbers to stick us with Romney. I don’t see how we can run a Big Government technocrat responsible for Romneycare in a year when the fight is against Big Government socialism and Obamacare.
I love Palin, but I’m convinced Obama will win 4 more years if Palin is on the ticket. Hardly a day goes by when I’m not talking to more people that would vote for anyone over Obama unless its Palin. The media’s nonstop 4 year assault on Palin has convinced enough moderates/independents that she’s unfit for power that the Dems are actually hoping she’s our nominee. The whole election would be an assault on Palin. The catastrophic results of Obama’s policies would be completely ignored. She can do tremendous good by NOT being on the ticket, but hosting rallies to energize the base.
    Gingrich is done, toast.
Huntsman has 0 chance but the liberal media will push him as hard as they can. He’s been endorsed so far by Harry Reid and Chris Matthews. Outside of the Democratic Party and the Leftist Media Complex, Huntsman has no support at all.
Ron Paul will get the same support he had last time, but no more, for the same reasons. He’s great on economics, but his extreme isolationism and open borders positions destroy any chance he might have.

  38. Doug Gonya says:

    “I will not vote for…”
That’s fine for the primary: vote for whoever you please.
But, when it comes down to Republican X vs Obama, get your sorry a$$ to the polls and vote the socialist out. I don’t care how much you can’t stand a particular Republican, and your reasons for doing so are probably correct, but the fact is we will all be infinitely better off with ANY Republican in the WH rather than Obama.
If Obamacare is not repealed, the US will gradually transform into a European style socialist country. Think it can’t happen? Do some research: check out what happened in the UK over the years since the passage of the NHS. There’s 0 chance we’ll be able to overide an Obama veto in the Senate from 2013-16, we MUST capture the WH.

  39. Sharon says:

but the fact is we will all be infinitely better off with ANY Republican in the WH rather than Obama.
    ———————————–
Unless we get a Republican that will not undo what Obama has done because they think too much like he does.

  41. Terry says:

Real America is SO upset about Libya! Funny how they donned their flag and eagle garb and watched the invasion of Iraq on Fox. I guess its ok for a dry drunk to squander $1T invading the wrong contry as long as he hated stem cells and loved Terry Schiavo.
    Mission Accomplished!

  42. Ragspierre says:

Terry has his mid-day psychotic break.
CONGRESS authorized military action in Iraq.
Obama has claimed it as “his” success.
But, Terry, once the meds kick in, tell us about our vital national interest in Libya, and explain why Obama can piss on the law with your approval.
    We’re waiting…

  43. barfo says:

“Conservatives” would have a better shot at getting one of their own elected by forming their own party than they do staying with the Republican party.

  44. Terry says:

Libya is about as vital as Iraq – though that wicked Hussein fellow (not Obama) did try to kill the stammering fool’s daddy. I bet he felt so proud putting on his pilot costume and landing on that carrier deck!

  45. Ragspierre says:

The whole Trojan Horse thingy was pretty new, now, and happening 31 centuries ago.
barfa still thinks it’s pretty shiny now.
    But barfa is an idiot.

  46. Ragspierre says:

“Libya is about as vital as Iraq”
When did Congress say that, Terry? What is the vital national interest in Libya? Congress found 23 predicates for war in Iraq. Which of those apply here?
Pilots don’t wear “costumes”. They wear uniforms. Ever wear the uniform of your nation in time of war Terry? What service?

  47. Terry says:

No one cares about your sad little army stories, grandpa. I hear you can get 10% off at Applebees. George Bush was a coward – daddy got him out of Vietnam and he hid like a little girl in a bunker on 9/11. At least his wife has a confirmed kill under her belt.

  48. Ragspierre says:

    I see…as do all here…
You can’t anwswer a few simple questions, so you resort to smearing crap on the thread.
Just another lying POS from the Collective.
Good to know some things never change.

  49. Sharon says:

Oy, Rags. Please just stop letting the kids push your buttons and taking the topic where they want it to go. They are just little gnats buzzing around trying to feel important.

  50. Terry says:

Don’t worry about gramps, he doesn’t have anything better to do. His oh-so-important bar card clearly doesn’t get too much use since he spends endless hours on here. Let him have his fun.

  51. Ragspierre says:

NYT: Obama overruled top Pentagon, DOJ lawyers on Libya war powers.
And now he’s ignoring the military leaders with boots on the ground in A’stan.
He made it worse. Whatever IT is.

  52. Terry says:

Good thing he caught bin Laden then! That and the complete and utter lack of ANYONE to challenge him in 2012. You had better pace yourself, 2016 is a LONG way off!

  53. Ragspierre says:

“Good thing he caught bin Laden then!”
Well, that was wonderful…but how come he let him go? Navy SEALS (in their “costumes”) had to take him out.
I guess I missed the news about Obama catching him.
I did see he made the no-brainer to take him out. Hu-zah.
Seems like we have a “NO-FLY” zone in Libya. Months ago. What are our vital national interests there again?

  54. sickofrinos says:

Gallup and Bloomberg have the good news today–SpongeBob Ogabe can face two major challengers, from Right and Center(Ok, leftish center) and still lose.
What would be surprising would be that all the bitter, cloying, clinging fruitcakes on our side don’t dissolve into a shivering puddle before the polls open.

  58. Dinah says:

“Oy, Rags. Please just stop letting the kids push your buttons and taking the topic where they want it to go. They are just little gnats buzzing around trying to feel important.”
I agree with the above comment wholeheartedly. The ignorance of the persons being alluded to in the previous comment is only surpassed by their racism and bigotry. They seem to believe that ALL conservatives are hillbillies and yet they are very proud of how tolerant they are of others. They are always bringing up the race card without realizing that by doing so, they are the ones that are racist.
They also seem to have a tendency to make facts out of suppossitions which is more proof of not only their ignorance but their level of intelligence. Yes, there is a difference between ignorance and intelligence before you start saying that it is the same. Ignorance is when you are not educated and intelligence is innate. It seems to me that Terry does lack both. For example, she/he/it is not intelligent enough to realize, after someone has mentioned the fact, that a Community College awards an Associate Degree and it is a two year educational institution. Then her ignorance shows when she does not realize that a JD degree stands for Juris Doctor.

  59. sickofrinos says:
