Krauthammer’s Complaint

"I want to be the one to walk in the sun," Cyndi Lauper explains in "Girls Just Want To Have Fun," a pop cultural artifact that mystically embodies the spirit of Sarah Palin's fierce determination and authentic American voice that captured the hearts and minds of so many of us burgeoning Tea Partiers way back when. Or so we think.

By Sissy Willis of sisu

"Krauthammer cannot 'get out more," writes blog buddy Gayle Miller of And you thought YOU were Cranky in the comments to our previous post, "Sarah Palin loves New York!" We were going to mention Gayle's observations in an update, but they're so darned insightful and well expressed that we're giving her top billing …

    i read the comment…
civil enough to get the wheelchair crack in.
the guy who really came out with a crazy litmus test was george will.
his ‘hand on the button’ fear in regards to palin…
he must have fallen asleep while watching dr. strangelove, the night before. he actually looks like he walked off the set an a extra.
still, it would be cool to see palin recast as slim pickens riding the nuke.
    there’s even a line for her…
“Major T. J. “King” Kong: I don’t give a hoot in Hell how you do it, you just get me to the Primary, ya hear!”
and worth noting that dr. strangelove was also in a wheelchair.

  2. mark l. says:

speaking of stealing lines from actors…
would have gotten the precise phrasing from the will comment, but everytime i tried to find some formulation of ‘dear god, she could blow us all to kingdom come’, joy behar kept popping up.

  3. sickofrinos says:

All the elite republicans will get from me is that I will not vote for oshitstick. That is the best I can do, unless Col. West is the nominee. F-you elitist pukes.

  4. gary gulrud says:

I too love Hammer’s wordsmithery, but have come to believe his view of men is too clinical, too barren of the noetic constructs men are: the summation of their aspirations, fantasies, failures, appetites, obsessions, animosities, yada, yada.
The archive of his columns on the 2008 campaign characterize Maggot as an ingenue, possibly narcissistic, beset by his inexperience and unearned celebrity.
Never considered was his inner life, the antiAmericanism, the thuggery, the Nihilism, Marxism, the evident lack of intellectual achievement, prevarications,…
    Ogabe isn’t a failure because he’s a greenhorn. He’s an effin traitor.
Krauthammer is a bloodless technician, objective to a fault, his insights admit nothing of the soul.

  5. Sissy Willis says:

gary gulrud: Thank you for expanding my vocabulary:
NOETIC: Of, relating to, originating in or apprehended by the intellect.
Etymology: 1650s from the Gk noetikos from noesis from noos “mind, thought” http://bit.ly/lnp3xz
    Fun stuff!
As for Krauthammer’s Complaint, you may recall his contempt for Reagan back in the day. For Northeast Corridor Republicans like Dr. K, Palin and the Country Class (in the Codevilla sense) rubes she energizes are beneath contempt. Like their “progressive” counterparts, they know better than we what is best for us.

  6. Ragspierre says:

    Huh.
I guess I’ll play lightening rod here, and say that I heard Dr. K on teevee the other night and heard him say ALMOST uniformly good things about Palin. She is definitely very smart. She is a star. She has great political instincts. She was an effective executive in Alaska. And etc.
His one negative was in the area of her preparation. No more POTUS OJT. I don’t agree with him as to Palin’s preparation, but it is certainly not a gratuitous snipe.

  7. Ragspierre says:

    FYI….
Stocks extended losses after the manufacturing fell below expectations in May and the private sector added only 38,000 jobs during the month.
“Interest rates are amazingly low and that, thanks to Ben Bernanke, is driving everything,” Yastrow said. “We’re on the verge of a great, great depression. The [Federal Reserve] knows it.
“We have many, many homeowners that are totally underwater here and cannot get out from under. The technology frontier is limited right now. We definitely have an innovation slowdown and the economy’s gonna suffer.”
    Recovery Summer, v.2.oh-oh!

  8. Ragspierre says:

“I have respectfully declined the president’s invitation to the White House today,” Rep. Jeff Landry (La.) said in a statement. “I don’t intend to spend my morning being lectured to by a president whose failed policies have put our children and grandchildren in a huge burden of debt.”
Landry is skipping a White House meeting with the entire GOP House caucus. Obama will meet with House Democrats on Thursday.
Landry said he would not sit down with Obama to negotiate on a deficit reduction compromise until Obama produces his own budget plan.
“Until the president produces a responsible deficit reduction plan, I’m not going to the White House to negotiate with myself. Our conference has put out for months where we would start the process,” Landry continued.
    Cajones.

  9. Sissy Willis says:

RagsyWagsy: You haven’t been paying attention. :) Listen for the “but,” spoken or implied, following Dr. K’s praise of Palin. He has been on her case since August 29, 2008 and never misses an opportunity to snipe at her gravitas and preparation or lack thereof. Same attitude towards Reagan way back when: http://bit.ly/i0iEUX

  10. Ragspierre says:

Sissy, all I can say is I listened to the guy, and did not hear what you heard. His only knock was the preparation thing. His praise was unalloyed.
When do our actions from 30-40 years ago fall away, I wonder…?

  11. jane says:

I’m starting to think that Dr K is smarter than Rove because he’s scaled back on his snipes against Palin. I’m not saying he thinks she should be the candidate or that she could win but perhaps he’s starting to realize that the GOP needs some of her base in addition to those Indies the GOP establishment loves and thinks so highly of. Too many of the GOP establishment figures the social conservatives/Palin supporters will just fall in line and vote for whatever squish the system decides on. Maybe it’s time for the establishment to stop calling Palin supporters stupid fools – unless they don’t care at all about their votes?

  12. Sissy Willis says:

Rags P: Maybe it’s a girl thing? But no. My hubby shares my assessment of Dr. Krauthammer’s Complaint. Hmmm.
jane: Interesting argument, but I’m not convinced.

  13. Ragspierre says:

Sissy, no biggie. We ALL have different filters, intuitions, etc. S’OK.

  14. Terry says:

Krauthammer, Will and Rove represent the “booklearnin” wing of the GOP and realize that all Palin can do is drag down the party. The Children of the Corn love her as much as they hate stem cells and ACORN but there just aren’t enough of them to make the Half Term Governor* a viable candidate.
*Quit in order to cash in.

  15. Drago says:

Terry the ignorant: “Krauthammer, Will and Rove represent the “booklearnin” wing of the GOP…”
    Hey, look who’s back!!
    It’s terry!
The guy who didn’t know you could earn a Juris Doctorate in Law School!
Who didn’t know that Michelle Bachman received her Tax Law degree from William and Mary!
Who didn’t know that Oral Roberts University Law School “moved” to Regent University and was accredited!
Who didn’t know that almost every single elite University in this country started as a “Bible college”!!
Who didn’t know the similarities between the undergraduate and graduate studies programs at our elite business schools!!
    LOL!!
Yeah terry, you’re really one to lecture everyone else on “booklearnin”!!
    LOL!!
You might even try some of that yourself!
    LOL!!

  16. Terry says:

Lol indeed. Please regale us with more stories about your big trip to the Big Apple in 2001. Did you have fun I’m Times Square? Did you get lots of valuable Marriott points?
    Lol.

The Indies Rove, et al., lusts after comprise 10% of the electorate to the Left of Republican affiliates(the balance, 30% of the electorate, land to the Right). In the event they seldom switch.
I’ve been talking to representatives of the rural MN contingent, NPR listening retired farmers, clergy and teachers. They detest the GOP, as the “loyal opposition” as most resistant to change.
Most seem to now accept their 2008 decision as no worse than the alternative having rebounded in self-esteem from the Obamacare travesty.

  18. jane says:

Why is it not surprising that the group you cited is happy with Obama? I find teachers & clergy tend to be weinies at best. I guess I could throw out the actual farming folks I know in Iowa who say they would vote anyone other than Obama – even the pantywaist Romney.

  19. Drago says:

terry: “Lol indeed. Please regale us with more stories about your big trip to the Big Apple in 2001. Did you have fun I’m Times Square? Did you get lots of valuable Marriott points?”
    Well, ok.
Although, to be honest, your time would obviously, OBVIOUSLY, be better spent doing some basic research on topics before you beclown yourself again.
    But you won’t.
    So your beclowning will continue!
    LOL!!
As to the Marriott points, yes indeed, I did in fact accumulate many points! In 1999 we were provided rooms at the Marriott in Times Square (since we worked out of Destroyer spaces at the pier).
I’ve already noted my marriott WTC extended stay.
I did indeed pocket alot of valuable points.
    Does that bother you?
Are you just upset that the feds weren’t taxing those points?
    I’ll be you were.
Hey terry, have done a little more research on the “differences” between Wharton undergrads and graduate students?
    LOL!
    I’ll bet you haven’t.
Normally, I would classify an idiot like you as someone who prefers ignorance. But in your case, that wouldn’t be fair, since it’s clear you possess “structural” limitations…
    LOL!

  20. barfo says:

    The Republican cannibalism continues.
    Excellent.
Making fun of a guy in wheelchair now?
Gee, I wonder which side on the Republican spectrum did that?

  21. mark l. says:

    “The Republican cannibalism continues.”
    you have to eat something…
dont’ want to be looking like a skinny somali pirate or anything…
still, you have time to help yourself to a big plate of weiner.

  22. Drago says:

    Lookie here!
    Barfo is back!!
Hey barfo, do you now believe that inflation is increasing?
Or are you still moronically parroting the talking points from 12 months ago?
    LOL!!
Oh, and more “good news” for barfo, even MORE Americans are dropping out of the job market and thus hiding the horrific effects of the obambi failed economy.
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110602/ap_on_bi_ge/us_economy_missing_workers
barfo, why does obambi hate private sector jobs so much?
    Why do you?

  23. barfo says:

I don’t blame you for trying to change the subject, Drags/Rags.
The fringe right trying to “debate” Krauthammer by laughing at his wheelchair is…to be expected.
Gutter humor is all you freak have.
Remember when right wing blogs were going to replace the MSM?
    LOL!

  24. Drago says:

barfo the helpless moron: “The fringe right trying to “debate” Krauthammer by laughing at his wheelchair is…to be expected.”
Hmmm, is a member of the left, who is “debating” the Ryan plan by showing commercials where old folks in wheel chairs are thrown over cliffs, actually complaining about something?
    LOL!!
barfo the voice-actuated automaton: “Remember when right wing blogs were going to replace the MSM?”
    Uh, no.
Actually no one said “right wing blogs” were going to replace the MSM.
Folks simply noted the fact that more and more people were getting their information in real time from blogs.
I don’t blame you for getting this wrong.
    Since you get everything wrong.
In this way you are at least consistent!
    LOL!!

  25. Drago says:

barfo: “I don’t blame you for trying to change the subject, Drags/Rags.”
Changing the subject is the ENTIRE obambi reelection strategy.
But then again, for you to notice that, you’d have to have some self-awareness, which you lack.
Not to worry, your lack of self-awareness coupled with your inpenetrable ignorance makes you a STAR lefty troll.
So, you’ve got that going for you……which is nice…..

  26. mark l. says:

“Gutter humor is all you freak have.”
    hmmm…
meanwhile, it would seem that all obama has is a maxed out credit card and his only contigency plan is to keep hoping the machine will accept it.
plus…you still have john edwards, you 2004 veep. would it be fair to say that plain has made out better?

  27. mark l. says:

    been wondering about that barfo…
you have the presidency and the senate. all you have to do is find a policy that the gop house won’t support, introduce it in the senate, and have the messiah declare that the land of rainbow and unicorns will be found, if only th gop would vote for it.
but then tax increases are off the table, because the dem house/senate/presidency continued with the obama tax cuts.
obama doesn’t want spending cuts, as he has repeatedly stated.
i’ve heard the whinings for another stimulus…
does that mean the first one didn’t work? i’m usre obama will be the first to admit where it went wrong.
i guess in the grand scheme of ‘all one has’, obama’s only play is to pretend he open to some form of budget reduction, and then run out the back door of a meeting with the gop, and tell the press that the gop wants to cut the fingers off of infants and the elderly.
not sure if sitting on a 40/60 split on economic approval, and a 35/65 split on the deficit, with his history of a 800 billion dollar failure, is something i’d really want, but at least you have that.

  28. Drago says:

mark: “plus…you still have john edwards, you 2004 veep. would it be fair to say that plain has made out better?”
Mark, you’re question cannot be properly asked without recognizing that there is no consistent standard by which you can ask a lefty to judge between left and right politicians.
The left spent a couple of years calling conservatives liars for daring to impugn that paragon of virtue, John Edwards.
Meanwhile, the very same left, alway on heightened alert for sexism/racism/homophobia etc, decided to routinely refer to Sarah Palin, a gal who married her high school sweetheart and is by all accounts happily married, as a whore, twat, c***, etc.
Just this week, barfo has been robotically, moronically and continuously claiming that poor poor poor “just doing the work of the people” mr Weiner was “hacked” and “setup” and “smeared” by that evil Breitbard cabal!!
    LOL!!
What’s funniest about it all, is that barfo, even now, BELIEVES all that despite all the facts out on the table and Weiners lies becoming more and more manifest each day.
Barfo believes because he has been told to believe. barfo would have made a good stalinist puppy dog.

  29. mark l. says:

“The fringe right trying to “debate” Krauthammer by laughing at his wheelchair is…to be expected.”
good. then you won’t be disappointed when i point out that your new dnc leader, dw schultz, sounds like marlee matlin’s parrot.
    a bit of advice?
when you go with robo-call fundraising, don’t use her voice, unless you are looking specifically for transvestites.

  30. gary gulrud says:

“Why is it [] surprising that the group you cited is happy with Obama?”
The point was they are ostensibly ‘swing’ voters. This is German-Catholic country, not Madison, WI. MN has a ‘viable’ third party, the Independence Party, that typically garners 10%.
They are decidedly ‘not happy’ with Maggot but merely believe they would have fared no better under McLame.
Rove the Corpulent, was flabbergasted that DE Republicans-those owing him allegiance-in a closed primary rejected his anointed, the worst-rated ‘conservative’ in DC, Mike Castle.
All in hopes of getting Dimmis and Swingers on board.

  31. Ragspierre says:

I see the idiots have been “busy” trying to divert everyone with their “substance” (i.e., fecal matter).
Wow. Talk about your one-trickless phonies….!!!!!

  32. mark l. says:

any time you want to game obama’s election strategy, barfo, we are here for you.
just curious if you are planning to be running under a period of tremendous economic success, or a backslide.
not a big fan of ‘are you better off’, but as a country…
obama rolls into reelection with 8-10 million people who WERE employed, four years ago.
‘give me another four years, to get you people jobs’?

  33. mark l. says:

caught that drudge headline about thinning the porcine herds in cali using helicopters…
i guess if obama could kill ubl, then he’ll have no problem climbing aboard a chopper and making the world a little more kosher, with his hi-powered rifle.
    i smell a ‘charlotte’s web’ sequel.
heck, he could fly over the plains, on the same tank of gas, and shoot some wilds horses, instead of selling them for slaughter.

  34. barfo says:

“any time you want to game obama’s election strategy, barfo, we are here for you.”
    LOL!
    Obama 58%
    Romney 38%
    Some Wingnut 14%
    Who needs a strategy?
    LOL!

  35. Ragspierre says:

    “Who needs a strategy?”
    Obama.
    He also needs an economy.
    A foreign policy.
    SOME respect for the law.
    An energy policy.
(I could you on, but even barfo can see a trend here.)

  36. Drago says:

    barfo: “Who needs a strategy?”
Who was it that was just talking about “delighting” in economic failure?
    Oh yeah, mikey.
And who is enjoying this economic failure?
    Barfo.
Barfo thinks having 20% of the American people unemployed, underemployed, or simply dropping out of the workforce is a wonderful thing.
Barfo thinks it’s ALMOST as wonderful as Weiners weiner.
    Almost……

  37. Drago says:

    Nov 2012 is a loooooong way away…………
The dems still have alot of work to do.
There’s lots more Americans to be shoved into unemployment.
There’s lots more homes to be foreclosed.
There’s still plenty of time to get gas above $5/gallon.
There’s even more inflation that the dems have to give us thru QE III.
And, most importantly, obambi’s team has to make sure to keep all those credit card checks turned off to keep the cash flowing in from Gaza and elsewhere.
So much to do, so little time…..

  38. Terry says:

It’s sad to watch the angry Real Americans flail around with their slogans and links to doom and gloom. Deep down they know that they have lost and are going to have another 5 1/2 years of the Kenyan Muslim. The fact is that they have no one to beat the crypto-muslim in 2012.
I would be interested to hear if Drago has any stories from band camp. His trip to NYC sounded so interesting!

  39. Drago says:

rags: “Guess what the Misery Index is up to…??”
    Carter levels.
But remember rags, by simply noting this fact, mikey will be along shortly to explain why it’s all your fault.
In mikey/barfo/terry’s/salvage/USA moron/nish’s world, one must never, ever criticize Dear Leader or his policies.
Right after mikey and gang explain why your noticing obambi’s horrible economic performance is your fault, they will revert to explaining how mr Weiner’s weiner problem is really Breitbarts fault.

  40. barfo says:

Even the slack jawed Republicans that inhabit the extreme fringe right of their party know Obama is a lock for reelection next year.
Y’all should put your efforts (such as they are) into the Republican’s long shot bid to hold onto control of the House.
Pity Boner turned out to be such an impotent whiner.
Well, it’s good news for Nancy Pelosi.

  41. Ragspierre says:

What was your prediction on the 2010 election again, there, barfo/liar/coward/racist…???
And, Terry, you are simply another idiot troll here. No value except comic and foil value.
But glad to see you at least know doom and gloom when it runs over you and actual Americans.

  42. Ragspierre says:

rags: “Guess what the Misery Index is up to…??”
    Carter levels.–Drago
Oh, NO…! WELL PAST Carter levels, and climbing.

  43. Terry says:

Wow the “Doctor” and MBA is calling names. Go figure. Gotta release that impotent rage somehow.

  44. Ragspierre says:

Terry, you have to learn the distinction (well…what am I saying?!?! You have to learn almost any damn thing) between calling you a name and making an observation based on what you smear across these threads.
Identifying you an idiot based on the objective history you have here and calling you a name are different, see?
    Idiot.

  45. barfo says:

“Guess what the Misery Index is up to…??”
No wonder America hates the House Republicans.
Because they broke their promise that they’d fix the economy if they were elected.

  46. Ragspierre says:

Once again, barfo proves there is simply no lie he will not tell.
    Or several in a string…

  47. itsMike2Cents says:

“Gotta release that impotent rage somehow.”
I don’t know that one can release something he’s clinging to.

  48. Ragspierre says:

That “rage” thingy was pretty stinking POTENT in 2010. Watch and see how it works out for your Collective in 2012.
Change is coming. The only real choice is chaotic change or rational change. If there is still time for the latter…

  49. itsMike2Cents says:

    Rational?
    Good for you, Ragspierre!

  50. Ragspierre says:

And this is “mikey substance”, just FYI for anyone new here.
Yep, mikey. Rational. Give it a try. It WILL hurt your head at first, but it is rewarding.
    I promise.

  51. barfo says:

“Once again, barfo proves there is simply no lie he will not tell.”
    Poor rags/Drags,
The wingnuts just can’t admit to themselves that the House Republicans are getting the blame for the poor economy.
    Them and Bush.

  52. mark l. says:

“The wingnuts just can’t admit to themselves that the House Republicans are getting the blame for the poor economy.”
not a chance. if they didn’t get credit for the 90′s, zilch of a chance they get blamed for now.
presidential election bring voter out of the hills…
my guess is that they want to flush this turd, that has been sitting in the bowl, for four years.
right now, a lot of voters are clinging to hope…
when time grows short, these people abandon the messiah, to a far more severe degree than carter.
    in your heart, barfo,
you know that this failure has changed at least 8 million voters minds. will the have to go vote for the gop? not all of them, but more than 2 million will, providing a minimum vote swing of 10 million.
    2010?
    what’s different?

  53. David Davies says:

rusty bilge from Terry at 1205pm. Terry knows Palin’s motives. How do you know these things, Terry?
Palin resigned for the reasons outlined in Going Rogue, pages 374 to 381. She resigned to continue the fight on a different front. We have no reason to disbelieve her and no reason to believe you.
Since Palin is still fighting, it should be obvious that she didn’t ‘quit’. General Lee didn’t quit after Gettysburg. He disengaged, and continued fighting. ‘Quitting’ is what General Lee did at Appomattox. Has Palin thrown in the towel? No! Palin disengaged from a losing battle, shifted her position, found the enemy flank, and renewed her attack. She maneuvered. Her resignation of the governor’s office was brilliant strategy, very much like Admiral Spruance’s turn east the night after Midway. Leftist crapweasels, you have been outflanked!
What so many do not understand is that to her, the success of the mission is paramount. She isn’t in it for self-glorification, and member of the left just can’t understand that because for them EVERYTHING is about self-glorification. Just look at how Repr. Weiner glorifies himself!!!

  54. mark l. says:

i guess you have tipped your hand, on the obama reelection strategy.
    ‘he’s not the gop’.
in all honesty, i thought bush won in 04 on the ‘lesser of two evils’ meme’.
chances are, that a policy of indifference to the debt/deficit/spending, is NOT the lesser of two evils, this time. you are already committed to believing it so…good luck with getting 40% of the vote.
he could always offer to tax his way out of the debt/deficit. even the moderates who believe it to be true, are loathe to vote to support tax increases, to pay for a govt which they hold less than 20% confidence in…

  55. David Davies says:

I have an issue with “Krauthammer should get out more” being taken as a cruel joke about him wheelchair. We have spent just tons of money to make everything in this country wheelchair compliant, including the stages of strip clubs. Why can’t the good doctor get out more?
This just doesn’t fall to the level of thoughtlessness that asking a man in a wheelchair to stand up and take a bow does. Was that Biden or Obama?

  56. David Davies says:

    ‘his’ wheelchair, obviously.

  57. mark l. says:

    it’s ok, i am a souless being.
    as for wheeelchair humor…
i admit, i laughed at the david cross/chris elliot argument in scary movie 2.
thank you, for voicing your inhibitions.

  58. gary gulrud says:

“The wingnuts just can’t admit to themselves that the House Republicans are getting the blame for the poor economy”
Only Republicans would care what illiterate parasites without a pot to piss in might think.

  59. Ragspierre says:

    Oh, cont-rare, gary…
That is the Deemocrat/Collectivist base. They really CARE a lot…!!!!!!!!
That is, the care about keeping them dependent, stupid, and deluded.

  60. gary gulrud says:

Evidently Sauerpuss was on the rag again tonight pissed the self-promoter stole Mitty’s thunder on Bunker Hill and NH.
    Try Midol, Doc.

  61. “‘dear god, she could blow us all to kingdom come’”
    Actually, that’s Ginger Lee’s job…

  62. sickofrinos says:

Republicons had better take this oppurtunity and elect Col. West. The gop is part of the democrat machine. Wake up you highly educated book freaks. Progressive for you, but not for me.
