Homeless Wis. Dem Senators Found, Mitch Daniels Now Homeless, Too
At this rate, these guys will be sleeping on grates by next month. We probably need a government program to place them with foster families.
UPDATE: We are receiving reports that the police were called out against the Illinois Tea Party members who found the Wisconsin Democrats in a local hotel. From a Tea Party member on the ground in Illinois:
And this should be the end of any talk about this candy-ass Daniels for POTUS in 2012. How long before the squish pundits on the Right start praising him for having the courage to buck the GOP base? So long, loser.
Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels (R) signaled that Republicans "should to drop the right-to-work bill that has brought the Indiana House to a standstill for two days and imperiled other measures," the Indianapolis Star reports.
Daniels told reporters that "he expects House Democrats will return to work if the bill dies. It would be unfortunate if other bills are caught up in the turmoil, he said."
He will not send out state police to corral the Democrats who fled to Illinois to prevent a quorum in the state House.

Thanks Dan….”this candy-ass Daniels”…..My sentiment exactly…
What a complete embarrassment. Turn in your man card, it’s been cancelled.
That’s exactly how I feel about Mitch Daniels, Dan. So long, loser, indeed!
That compassionate reach across thing is so Bush 43. The republic doesn’t need any more of that.

“Because the Only Good Progressive is a Failed Progressive”
It’s like stepping on SoCons is a red flag of not being a real conservative which then further life bears out.
I wonder who the RINOs will put up as their next Sir Robin.
I won’t even call them candy-ass or Rinos anymore. They’re all just eunichs.
Ouch…!!! I WOULD be a woman who would come up with that…
Whats a Eunich? You teabaggers need to get hooked on phonics.
Gelded pony is ribbing the Strong Mare. How touching. Look for a hoof between the eyes.
With Mitch Daniels self-destructing, that opens the way for the other Daniels’ best bud and fellow Bushite Haley Barbour. It is just one big RINO stampede now that Thune has made it clear that he will not be running. Just as well. Let’s get out of the way as the GOP goes under for the last time and we can come back with a new party. Besides, it doesn’t look like Obama is going to be Dem candidate in 2012 anyway. So the RINOs will once again parade one squish after another as “the only guy who can beat Obama!” only to have the Dems come up with another candidate who defeats the squish again.

I’m kinda liking this guy misef…
I just heard that Daniels said the Fleebaggers were “legitimate”.
That was having carnal knowledge of the family canine as far as I’m concerned.
I would not support this puke for crossing guard.
What a turncoat bitch daniels is. He will probably turn his state house into a hotel for the leaving dems of Ohio.
The First Rule of the Presidency is you do not negotiate with terrorists. If Daniels can’t even get that one down, how can he handle the rest?
Really really don’t like that he called the Indiana fleebaggers legit. Really do not like it. However, apart from that, the Indiana budget is currently not the apocalypse that Ohio and Wisconsin are. Maybe it is not realistic of conservatives to expect the exact same bills and union solutions from each state when the situation on the ground is somewhat different state to state.
“Seriously! How can the guy who fled the state — FLED THE STATE — to avoid losing a vote survive a debate or an attack commercial next election? Does he really think statewide office might still be in his future?
Will he be sipping brandy in twenty years, pondering his freshman legislator photo: “It was the right thing to do, son. They had the votes … ”?”
Heh…!
Great question…
a.) As far as the cops being called on the Tea Party guy–that’s probably legit. Look–just because some idiot is staying in a hotel for a bad reason doesn’t give anyone a right to go harass him. Especially on private property. You can ask a question or two–but don’t forget the guy has paid for the right of quiet enjoyment of the hotel premises. He gets to get that.
What you need to do is check into a room at that hotel. Then you can mess around a little (but not too much). Either we believe in the rule of law that covers all equally or we don’t.
b.) What Mr. Daniels doesn’t understand is that when your opponent goes nuclear, you must go nuclear back. Or else just frankly admit that you don’t believe much in your party and don’t want to waste your capital on what you think is a stupid idea from some guys you didn’t like anyway, and if the opposition decides to start monkeying with the process in a way they would never allow you to do–well, okey dokey.
Either choice is fine. To do neither is…well, probably the definition of a trimmer still not willing to fight the press, and thus a man who apparently thinks nothing more is possible than to be the commander of the rear guard in a slow retreat–a retreat, by the way, from a smaller force at a time when they are waning in strength. It’s like if Eisenhower had entered in negotiations with the Germans after the breakout from Normandy….inexplicable…

I might have been in a hurry when I typed it, but then I do need to work for a living and don’t spend all day playing with my toes.
Susie, only idiots are reduced to sniping at spelling and typos on threads like this.
We all know that…
Well…

Some Freepers living in Indiana made a few fairly impassioned posts defending Daniels’ reasoning. Things are tough there, and people are frustrated, and need him to succeed as Governor. They are worth reading, just to get the an idea of the rationale behind such a poorly played hand (go there and search for “Daniels” to find the threads).
Sadly, while seeming reasonable-enough, it’s the same sort of thinking that seems to have impelled “W” to spend political capital on things like Medicare prescription benefits, and expanding the power of the Education Department. This, mind, at a time when the public sector unions, the Iran/Hamas connection, the crony-ridden Mortgage meltdown enablers, and the global-warming scaremongers were taking major chunks out of the pillars of Western Civilization. It’s exemplified by Bush’s refusal to engage the left or push–seriously–for energy independence. With many Republican leaders employing a similar, “careful” strategy, it wiped out the party, and paved the way for Obama’s disastrous regime.
Daniels is playing for a risk-free, near-perfect win. In other words, “playing not to lose.”
That’s how you can manage to look like a contender, but *never* win a title.
Twenty-five years ago, that was a great way to become a famous elder statesman; to serve in the Senate, or as VP, until you are carried out feet-first. But the world is closer to all-out war than at any time since August, 1945 (not even the Cuban Missile Crisis was this bad, since it involved “only” the two major powers). This is not a time for politicians looking to retire with a Clintonian-style legacy; it’s a time for legends similar to Washington, Lincoln, and Churchill.
Ask yourself who today is likely to have *hundreds* of biographies written about them.
Daniels? Maybe two.
“Look–just because some idiot is staying in a hotel for a bad reason doesn’t give anyone a right to go harass him.”
Sorry – not buying that one.
These people are not just somebody out for a drive. They are elected officials, who are supposed to be doing their jobs. They are NOT private citizens in this context. If they were on vacation,I would agree with you – but they are not. They are on strike. Harassment is the absolute minimum they should expect.
“Either we believe in the rule of law that covers all equally or we don’t.”
I too am a litle confused. What law is it that prevents citizens from asking their elected representatives, who happen to be on the lamb, questions or giving them opinions?
alan and Fred, Horatius is correct, and you are looking at the issue from the wrong side.
I know…it galls me, too…but the HOTEL did a permissible thing (not the optimal thing maybe) in calling the police. The hotel is not a public forum, although the lobby area is substantially different than a guest’s room. The hotel has no obligation to provide a place where a dust-up might occur…quite the opposite.
Now, had the Fleebaggers been caught on a public sidewalk, all your points are TOTALLY correct. The PLACE is the deal here.
nish/Guesswho: “Whats a Eunich? You teabaggers need to get hooked on phonics.”
LOL!!
That’s racist!!
Lefties like you have been telling us that “ebonics” is a valid language! Therefore, any suggestion that anyone should use phonics is racist!!
LOL!!
And anyone, like nish, who can’t tell the difference between “Fitzgerald” and “Walker” shouldn’t be lecturing anyone about language!!!
LOL!!
“Eunich” is a damn site more phonetic than “eunuch”…seems to me…

Good take. Hoosiers are touting Daniels’ lowering their property taxes. Returning income tax in a reverse transfer payment is a Dimmi initiative everywhere but IN.
Its the whole coercive scheme behind state control over education.
‘Right to Work’ is one tool in the battle to regain control over runaway pensions with defined contribution, layoffs, etc.
IN has the 3rd least funded pension system in the country, which Daniels will leave to his successor.
Marketing is not leadership and Daniels will barely get on ballots with deceptive marketing.
Back to Daniels:
What he’s going for there is the ‘John McCain’ nomination: he’s hoping that all the Dems in open-primary states willvote for him as the lesser of however many evils… shows just how much class the man has.
“Pick me! Your enemies who want to wreck the country find me more appealing than the other candidates!”
Scott Walker = Homo Erectus (Standing-up man)
Mitch Daniels = Homo Flaccidus (not sure of Latin translation for this one)

Jared Loughner has the same obsession!!! Wow, you have more in common with that lefty mass murderer than I thought!
Mitch Daniels will not win a Republican primary. He looks like a coward. I’m tired of these so called “moderates” eating their own. He should not be giving in to union thuggery. These government workers work for the people, not the Governor. Many of the people paying these government workers in the form of tax dollars make less than the government worker. They should be abolished. Even the hero of the left FDR didn’t think they were appropriate. It’s a money laundering scheme. The taxpayer who may makes less money, pays the government worker who makes more money, they then give it to people like Barack Hussein Obama’s ilk to get them elected. The taxpayer is subsidizing the Democratic/CPUSA and it needs to stop. We need someone with the courage to do what’s right like Governor Scott Walker. The Government Union worker needs to be abolished. So does the Department of Education which was started by Jimmy Carter to spread socialism. The NEA is a communist organization.
Evidently all Daniels had to do to rescind collective bargaining for state employees was reverse an executive order.
All the minority party had to do to kill the ‘Right to Work’ bill was skip town for the day, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Sounds to me as tho IN has a very twisted idea of good government.
Not certain I care what Hoosiers might think about their governor.
