Governor Jan Brewer has had enough with the Obama administration's ineptitude when it comes to immigration and lack of border security.

Brewer announced she will countersue the Obama administration.

It’s the right thing to do. All around.

  2. mark l. says:

set up a system where they become ‘indentured servants’.
the prison system already provides housing, food, and healthcare.
put a price of 2000 dollars for any immigation violation to be paid for in cash or service.
once locals realize they can nab free* labor, OR cash, and undercut union costs, the local enforcement becomes a ‘two-fer’.
*did i mention that we pay for housing, food, and healthcare?

  3. DaveP. says:

That’s close enough to slavery, Mark. It’s what Democrats do. Americans have no need of it.

  4. Ragspierre says:

Yeah, mark…no. Put that one down in the “over thunk” column.

  5. Ragspierre says:

Yeah, mark…no. Put that one down in the “over thunk” column.

  6. mark l. says:

throw the unions in cali a bone…
they get the jobs for ‘processing’ potential workers.
watch dem unions drool. their own, out of work members, become the foreman of a dirt cheap labor force.
    slavery?
if we were invading mexico and kidnapping…maybe.
they should be given ample opportunities to select their paths…
serve the time, pay the two grand, or hit the labor force and earn ‘some’ money.

  7. mark l. says:

“Put that one down in the “over thunk” column.”
forgive my ‘greed’. I want to boost local revenue and production. enough to break even? maybe someday…
for now, on the hypothetical that the costs of illegal immigration in lost tax revenue, cost of enforcement and detention, and subsequent housing/health/food runs 100 billion, if we make a billion, it is worth it, relative to doing nothing.
Beyond tax revenue, it contributes to overall gdp.
    as for the legality…
    prison work crews.
i’d imagine that given the choice of sitting in with main population, non-violent offenders would be more inclined to choose a work program with a far less restrictive enviroment.
violent offenders? not welcome in work release. absconders? sorry, one chance.
clearly we have a labor market that supports illegal immigration, why not squeeze them out with a state run program?

  8. barfo says:

The irony of the Governor of Arizona complaining about a “lack of security” would be humorous if it wasn’t tragic.

  9. Ragspierre says:

You need to address that to Sherf Dupe-Dick, barfo.

  10. Susie Q says:

It’s a shame that the only ones in government anymore with balls seems to be the women.

  11. mark l. says:

“The irony of the Governor of Arizona complaining…”
    gotta ask barfo:
is rags correct in connecting your “irony” to “the loughner shooting”? if so, do i compliment him for being able to translate barfo, or do i laugh at him for being able to translate barfo?
if we are free to draw cause and effect based on ‘one’ person…

Are they allowed to complain? Can I buy and sell my indentured persons contract? Will their be brokerages? Can I determine if I get a big eater or a real thin one who does not eat much? If my indentured person wins the lottery, is the money mine?

  13. joyMc says:

Of the 2 suits, which one has merit? In my mind it is clear that the federal government has been guilty of malfeasance to a degree that it is indescribable for decades now with regards to the border and illegal immigration. I am pretty sure a mere citizen would not be seen as having any standing to bring such a suit, and demand the border be secured. Will a state be regarded as having standing to bring such a suit? Are there examples? Go Jan.

barfo: “The irony of the Governor of Arizona complaining about a “lack of security” would be humorous if it wasn’t tragic.”
    LOL!!
    Another fact-free posting by barfo!!
I wonder if salvage will be pleased with this?!!
    LOL!!
Hey barfo, did you see that the deficit will hit $1.5 Trillion this year?
Gas prices are up to $3.30 a gallon in some places, and climbing with no relief in sight!! Wait until summer!
And the CBO says that even with dem-cooked books, obambi-care will result in a loss of at least 800,000 jobs.
Yep, even more Americans will be out of work.
Thanks barfo/obambi/libs!! I know that you are all praying that even more people completely give up looking for work so the fantasy-numbers unemployment rate will go down.
Back on topic, what evidence exists that the obambi administration has, amongst other things, secured the Arizona-Mexican border, complied with duly passed legislation enacted by Congress or reimbursed Arizona for the detention of criminal illegal immigrants?
Go ahead barfo, answer any of those questions!
    LOL!
Remember, salvage gets very very upset if you don’t bring “FACTS BABY” to the table…….LOL!!

  15. Drago says:

rags: “You need to address that to Sherf Dupe-Dick, barfo.”
    Quite true.
But, of course, Loughner is the son of a connected dem county worker and we see how lefty dem sheriff moron quickly moved to try and frame this as a right-wing attack.
So, we have a lefty son of a lefty mom in a lefty county controlled by a lefty sheriff shooting up a meeting outside a grocery store.
And whats the lefty response? It’s Sarah Palin’s fault. It’s Jan Brewer’s fault.
The left. Could they be any more predictable?

  16. Ragspierre says:

“Will a state be regarded as having standing to bring such a suit? Are there examples? Go Jan.”
    Yes.
Yes, various organizations and states sue various Federal defendants commonly. Think Sierra Club.
    And, ditto, Jan!

  17. Ragspierre says:

“It’s a shame that the only ones in government anymore with balls seems to be the women.”
A real-life consequence of the feminization of America. Those of us with sons have a calling to raise men.
    Diversity is GOOD, remember…!!!

  18. Ragspierre says:

“if so, do i compliment him for being able to translate barfo, or do i laugh at him for being able to translate barfo?”
May we not laugh and cry, together? The height of pathos.
Still, it IS disturbing… Perhaps my work with the criminally insane helps explain…

  19. susan says:

Gov Haley, Gov Martinez, Gov Brewer-fire from the heartland, boys.
The Mama Grizzlies are taking the charge and leading the way out of the abyss!

  20. SacTownMan says:

Brewer looks and talks like a old drunk.
I like her but she just sort of grinds on me.
She is right on the issues but there is something about her. It was the same thing with Sharron Angle.
They are just not as articulate as Palin, Bachman or Haley.

  21. mark l. says:

can anyone explain the difference between work release and ‘indentured’ servitude?
you could talk to sheriff joe arpaio. seems he runs a work release program…
    http://www.ripoffreport.com/criminal-justice-system/sheriff-joe-arpaio/sheriff-joe-arpaio-estrella-ja-7e98d.htm
an report from a participant in his jail…
“I was on work release monday thru friday 12 in 12 hours out. Weekdays weren’t bad except if they called your release time to come up to the office and they would give you some stupid job like trash duty or pulling weeds in some yard just to make you miserable. If you wouldn’t do it they wouldn’t let you leave for work on time.”
if anyone here believes work release constitutes slavery, you should write a form letter and make at least 20,000 copies to mail accross the ‘fruited plains’.

  22. mark l. says:

    for my squemish friends,
worth looking at the term “community service”, as wiki offers,
    Alternative sentencing:
“In this form of community service, convicted of crimes are required to perform community services or to work for agencies in the sentencing jurisdiction either entirely or partly in lieu of other judicial remedies and sanctions, such as incarceration or fines.
For instance, a fine may be reduced in exchange for a prescribed number of hours of community service. The court may allow the convict to choose their community service, which then must be documented by credible agencies, or may mandate a specific service.”
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_service

  23. Ragspierre says:

mark, one BIG difference between community service and your original proposal is that community service is conducted under court supervision, and should not benefit a private person or business.
Outside of that, and in the context of, say, the Arizona law there would be no problem with having illegal immigrants work off a fine. Same is true for anyone else…legal or illegal.
That is REALLY quite different from indentured servants (which many of our ancestors were, and that system enabled many to come here in colonial times.)
