"Public discourse and debate isn't a sign of crisis but of our enduring strength. It is part of why America is exceptional," Sara Palin tells the nation in "America's Enduring Strength" on Facebook and Vimeo. Read full transcript here and watch/listen here.

By Sissy Willis of sisu

"It is time to restore the precept that each of us is responsible for our actions," Sarah Palin cuts through the ersatz outrage of the vitriolic "character assassins, partisans, liars and propagandists," in John Nolte's words, who have been "doing everything in their power to bring down the right" in the wake of the Tucson massacre. Listen to Sarah's rousing invocation here. Once again she disintermediates the moribund powers that be to speak directly to the American people with her vision of the Shining City, based upon what Thomas Sowell calls the "constrained vision" of human nature …

  1. Dancer May says:

Her use of the strange phrase “blood libel” will be all people remember of this. It’s not a commonly used phrase so it really stands out. When using an odd phrase like that, maybe she should have googled it to make sure some other meaning didn’t interfere with what she was trying to convey.

  2. salvage says:

to restore the precept that each of us is responsible for our actions
This from Sarah “It’s never my fault you betchya” Palin.
And I’m not sure if Facebook is the medium for a “rousing invocation” unless the “grieving nation” is Farmville.
So if she really thinks her vile rhetoric had nothing to do with anything why doesn’t she put her gun-sight graphic back up? It has no effect or even connection right so what would it matter?
What’s Palin’s “Shining City” a wolf carcass in every pot? Bridges to Nowhere? Quitting your job cuz it’s hard and mean people are mean to you and you never did nothing to no one!
Oh poor wingnuts, America didn’t like Palin before and they sure don’t like her now, that must be driving you even more hog wild than ever.

  3. Dave in Alaska says:

Dancer May….I looked through the history of the “blood libel”(using a child’s blood in certain aspects of their religious rituals and holidays)…and the phrase(blood libel)WAS A MADE UP STORY(myth)beginning in 1st Century , used to persecute a person or race of people(Jews) unjustly…
..where,pray tell did she not use the word correctly..the blood of these people(and child) is being used to blame Sarah over and over..
..I think she struck the nail on the head…and that smarts when it is your head being struck…

  4. Ragspierre says:

    And…
right on cue, the TPM BS is slung.
    http://hindenblog1.blogspot.com/2011/01/crash-when-your-best-hope-is-blood.html
You are going to hear the lie that “blood libel” is weird or over the top…or “not commonly used”.
I used it in the piece linked above…because it was TOTALLY applicable. It IS uncommon, because the the desperate Collective is doing here is uncommon.
The term was used by others before, and after, I wrote that piece, one of them in an excellent WSJ piece.
And the Palin-haters here can be expected to add, bend, and repackage their VITRIOL…all while telling us it is our rhetoric that makes America divided and dangerous.

  5. Ragspierre says:

    From TPM, 2000–
Listen to Florida Democrat Peter Deutsch last night on Crossfire:
Let me just talk a little bit about the whole, I guess, spin from the Republicans about — which has been to me the absolute most — the worst statements I have ever heard probably in my life about anything. I mean, almost a blood libel by the Republicans towards Al Gore, saying that he was trying to stop men and women in uniform that are serving this country from voting. That is the most absurd thing and absolutely has no basis in fact at all.
    La.

  6. Dave in Alaska says:

    Via Hotair….
“Update: Some are criticizing Palin’s use of “blood libel,” saying that it refers to a specific anti-semitic charge from centuries ago that Jews supposedly used the blood of Christian children in preparing ritual food. But as Glenn Reynolds points out to Politico’s Ben Smith, Israel uses “blood libel” today to rebut charges of deliberately killing Palestinians, and Tony Blankley used it in a column to describe John Murtha’s accusations against Marines about murders in Haditha. It’s a functional political term.”
..hmmmm….maybe these folks need to “Google” a little before they criticize a part of Sarah’s statement…

  7. itsMike2Cents says:

    “…rousing invocation to a grieving nation…”
If Cubachi had any credibility left when it comes to Palin, one might suggest she dials it back a bit.
But I guess we should take some comfort that Jennifer didn’t run with ‘Not since the Gettysburg address…’.
Imagine how hard that was for her.

  8. Ragspierre says:

    http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/137411-clyburn-palin-intellectually-not-to-be-able-to-understand-whats-going-on-here
Hmmm…mikeNOsense dares to use the term “credibility”…
And the affirmative action co-sub-deputy leader (giggle) of the House MINORITY is so moronic as to suggest Palin is too stupid to get the big picture here…
a big, lying, smearing picture he is so idiotic as to still be flogging EVEN KNOWING the nation has already rejected it, and the “smart people” in the Collective are on to new lies…
    Wow.

  9. salvage/nshner/barfo/itsMike2Cents/TrueTeaPartyPatriot/SouthernValues/Vic says:

Man oh man I’m on a roll today. Posting comments at the speed of light I tells ya’,, at the speed of light. salvage here, barfo there, itsMike2Cents now and again. I am the master of the sock!

  10. nshner says:

Sarah The One doesn’t engage in public discourse, she posts on Facebook. She doesn’t defend her ideas in public, engage in debates or press conferences, she lets her worshippers shout down anyone who disagrees with her. Viva la democracy.
But her political tin ear for the Giffords shooting has essentially ended her hope to be president. That idea is toast.

  11. lu-EE says:

…and where is the president in all this?
Palin just swept the floor with leftwing “derangers”.
on her facebook page she let derangers post hateful bigoted statements about her and now she gives back with both barrels.
the leftwing in this country, and even any “right wing” anti-palinites who feel she is partialy to blame for the nut killer, are all going to thrown unto the trash heap of history in 2012.
all of the leftwings, and the derangers, “right wing” anti-palinites AND the latest actions of hate and vitrol they have recently used, have simply hastened the end of them.
The left doesnt care what Palin says or said, truth or lie, the left & those who HATE Palin, had THEIR political gun sights on HER since mccain picked HER because SHE SCARES THEM.
    major jerks.

  12. nishner says:

Here’s the kindof party Sarah The One is building:
A nasty battle between factions of Legislative District 20 Republicans and fears that it could turn violent in the wake of what happened in Tucson on Saturday prompted District Chairman Anthony Miller and several others to resign.
Miller, a 43-year-old Ahwatukee Foothills resident and former campaign worker for U.S. Sen. John McCain, was re-elected to a second one-year term last month. He said constant verbal attacks after that election and Internet blog posts by some local members with Tea Party ties made him worry about his family’s safety.
    http://www.azcentral.com/community/ahwatukee/articles/2011/01/11/20110111gabrielle-giffords-arizona-shooting-resignations.html

  13. salvage says:

    >…and where is the president in all this?
    Um going to Tuscon?
    >Palin just swept the floor with leftwing “derangers”.
Oh yes, her whole “Blood Libel” speech was a triumph!
    >are all going to thrown unto the trash heap of history in 2012.
Ha! Ha! Yes! Just like they were in 2008 and 2010. Say who won the election in Alaska again? Was it Palin’s pick or was it a write-in candidate?
    >The left doesnt care what Palin says or said, truth or lie,
So you admit she lies and that you don’t care if she does?
    >since mccain picked HER because SHE SCARES THEM.
Yes, she might post a mean thing about me on her Facebook page or quit.
    Very scary lady.

  14. lu-EE says:

salvage, yes, her “blood libel” speech is a “TRIUMPH” as you have stated. Her opponents fear her and have used libelous accusations against her, that she “caused the murders” ie THAT SHE HAS THE BLOOD OF THE AZ DEATHS ON HER HANDS.
WTF would you call it???? hm???
salvage posts: “So you admit she lies and that you don’t care if she does?”
lu-EE response: really where did I say that salvage?
salvage posts: “Yes, she might post a mean thing about me on her Facebook page or quit. Very scary lady.”
lu-EE response: WTF kind of response it that??? what does that mean? and you and the left-wing dont POST SCARY THINGS ABOUT HER? You a**holes have just spent 5DAYS F*KING DAYS ACCUSER HER OF HAVING THE BLOOD OF THE AZ KILLINGS ON HER HANDS. DONT YOU HAVE A CLUE????
salvage posts: “Um going to Tuscon?”
lu-EE response: UM a** breath, Palin has responded 3 times since this happened, and since then Obama has not called off the leftwing attack dogs to stop libeling her. He is a milk-toast of a president. He himself used vitriol yet he nor the left dont fell guilty. HE SHOULD APOLOGIZE FOR CAUSING THIS MESS. He is the president and should lead instead he acts the ostrich with his head up his a** or underground. But this is all so typical of a president who has ex- violent weathermen as political supporters in chicago. I would rather have Palin who kills moose, as my president, then Obama, who has friends & political supporters, who killed NYC cops.
    j*rk.

  15. lu-EE says:

    PS
salvage posts: “Ha! Ha! Yes! Just like they were in 2008 and 2010.”
lu-EES: what do you mean??? the left wing has been losing ground ever since obama became president. prove me wrong sport.
salvage posts: “say who won the election in Alaska again? Was it Palin’s pick or was it a write-in candidate?”
lu-EE: actually a republican candidate who won because the AK voters didnt like what the leftwing (YOUR PARTY) had to offer.
    cheers sport. try again

  16. salvage says:

    >ever since obama became president. prove me wrong sport.
Yeah, that Obama becoming President was a real loss.
    >lu-EE: actually a republican candidate who won because the AK voters didnt like what the leftwing (YOUR PARTY) had to offer.
    Palin endorsed that candidate?
No, no she did not. In fact she is pretty disliked in Alaska right now, even after she did the best thing she could possibly do for them; quit.

  17. salvage says:

    >. I would rather have Palin who kills moose, as my president, then Obama, who has friends & political supporters, who killed NYC cops.
    Ahhh, now that is wingnutty!
It’s odd that Palin doesn’t do better with sane level supporters like this.

  18. mark l. says:

    so…
did anyone get past the “vimeo” password thingy?
even tried finding the speech off of realclearpolitics, but ran into the vimeo wall.
i am slightly ticked off that palin didn’t provide a simple path to hear/see her speech.

  19. itsMike2Cents says:

    mark l. -
    have you tried this?
    http://vimeo.com/18698532

  20. mark l. says:

    actually, it still won’t play.
i get the exclaimation mark when I click on play, but this did get me past the password page…
I’m done with it. If she is going to be filtered this much, I’m not going to waste my time trying to hear what she has to say.

  21. salvage says:

It must be on YouTube by now.

  22. mark l. says:

    drudge(and salvage) to the rescue…
i got to get my beer buzz back, before i watch the thing.

  23. lu-EE says:

you whoooo!!! oh salvage!!! whats the matter sport, cant u answer my questions??? why are you so worried about Palin and her supporters? if she is so unpopular why are you throwing bigoted, slanderous, and libelous comments at her, in addition to lies? hmmm?
    here lets try AGAIN sport:
Lu-EE posted: “ever since obama became president. prove me wrong sport.”
salvage’s answer” “Yeah, that Obama becoming President was a real loss.”
lu-EE’s follow up comment/question: who the h*ll said Obama didnt win? its all the other elections the Obameister helped lose that i am talking about. but you knew that didnt you? it was because Obama’s actions as president hurt his party and caused the biggest loss of democrat’s in 80 years that the left-wing is furious with Palin. Most of Palin’s choices in the last election cycle WON. do you understand that or did you just not follow the last election results???
salvage posed: “Palin endorsed that candidate?”
who said she didnt salvage? yes and she also endorsed a ton of other candidates who DID win and that is why you & the leftwingnutbags are SCARED OF HER RESPECT & POWER. Oh well you sound like the AZ killer. U CANT EXCEPT REALITY. oh btw salvage-bag, what was Obama’s % of backing “winning” candidates in the last election cycle???
But the real issue is NO LEFT WING DEMOCRAT CANDIDATE WON ALASKA. A republican DID. do you at least understand that fact, or are u just being stubborn for stubborn’s sake?
“Ahhh, now that is wingnutty! It’s odd that Palin doesn’t do better with sane level supporters like this.”
lu-EE’s response: ahhh but that is your problem and the rest of the left-wingnutbags: they are scared of the popularity of Palin. which bring us back to my first comments in this post: why is it you guys on the left slander & libel her so much? If she is so low in the polls & popularity why are you guys AFTER HER so much? Why do you even bring her into EVERY political/social discussion or respond to supporters of her, like me? hmmm???
cheers sport. try again. this time remember to TRY.

  24. mark l. says:

    ok, finally saw it.
7min, 43 secs…after all the shots she took over the past few days, she could probably pump out another book.
she drags her “s” to a point where my dog was acting like he was hearing a whistle. good production chould have and should have cleaned it up. of course, good production would have found a way to keep the teleprompter from bouncing back off her glasses.
what should have been 6 paragraphs, with concise points dedicated to each, turned into a rambling list of bullet points(oops, i typed ‘bullet’) covering twenty different topics crammed into two paragraphs running too long.
    optics?
yes, she has a great neck, but they should tease with it…not just slap it on the glass(lens).
    presidential? relatively.
i still like her better than bambi.

  25. Not only the best better. i envy you very much.

  26. salvage says:

    >you whoooo!!! oh salvage!!! whats the matter sport, cant u answer my questions???
Because your grammar and spelling are atrocious with gratuitous use of exclamation points.
    >why are you so worried about Palin and her supporters?
    I’m not.
if she is so unpopular why are you throwing bigoted, slanderous, and libelous comments at her, in addition to lies? hmmm?
Again I’m not. I know as a wingnut you are easily confused but this blog isn’t actually written or read by Palin,I doubt she’s seen my comments.
    >its all the other elections the Obameister helped lose
So all those losses were because Obama is President? There were no other factors?
    > Most of Palin’s choices in the last election cycle WON.
So all those wins were because of Palin? THere were no other factors? Like they would have won without her?
See it’s all her Teabagger candidates that lost, including the one in her own home state that is indicative of her unpopularity and the fringe that is wingnuttia.
    >because Obama’s actions as president hurt his party and caused the biggest loss of democrat’s in 80 years that the left-wing is furious with Palin.
Oh yes, grrrrr! They are furious with the Facebook lady! She won’t share her Farmville cows!
    >Most of Palin’s choices in the last election cycle WON. do you understand that or did you just not follow the last election results???
Yes and I cleaned up on my football pool, does that mean Seattle would have lost if I hadn’t picked them?
See silly wingnut there is this thing called cause and effect, you should look into it.
    >who said she didnt salvage? yes and she also endorsed a ton of other candidates who DID win
And they would have won without her is the point you will never understand.
    >and that is why you & the leftwingnutbags are SCARED OF HER RESPECT & POWER.
AAHAHAHHAH! OH yes! The Queen of All Facebook is quite the scary customer and such power! She can quit in 3.2 seconds, can shove her foot so far in her mouth she needs a proctologist to get them removed.
    >what was Obama’s % of backing “winning” candidates in the last election cycle???
I have no idea but somehow I doubt that people didn’t vote for someone because Obama told them he liked them.
    >But the real issue is NO LEFT WING DEMOCRAT CANDIDATE WON ALASKA. A republican DID.
Of course they didn’t and ya know who else didn’t win? Palin’s endorsed candidate a write in candidate did, what does that tell you?
Well quite a bit but you are a wingnut and lack the ability to understand.
    >they are scared of the popularity of Palin.
    Uh huh.
It’s not good news for Sarah Palin that the people who know her best are among those who like her least. And according to polling data released by Public Policy Polling, Palin’s fellow Alaskans have an especially dim view of their former half-term governor.
    http://www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/robert-schlesinger/2010/12/28/poll-sarah-palin-really-unpopular-in-alaska
    Palin unpopular in battleground states
    http://www.gop12.com/2010/12/palin-unpopular-in-battleground-states.html
A new CBS News poll out today continues to show that Americans view former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) about as favorably as a gift Toyota.
    http://voices.washingtonpost.com/postpartisan/2010/04/sarah_palin_and_michele_bachma.html
In addition to Obama leading her by a whopping 22 points — compared with Romney’s seven-point deficit, and a generic GOP candidate’s three-point deficit in the poll — Palin’s negative rating has climbed to 50%. That’s the highest negative rating for anyone measured in this poll (and it’s two points lower than Nancy Pelosi’s negative rating from last month). And get this: The only major subgroups that Palin wins in a head-to-head match-up with Obama are Republicans, conservatives, and FOX viewers. That’s it, folks. NBC/WSJ co-pollster Bill McInturff (R) says that this is “a sobering starting point” for Palin if she decides to run for president.
    http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2010/12/16/5659452-first-thoughts-as-bad-as-it-gets
    >why is it you guys on the left slander & libel her so much?
Well it’s not slander and libel if it’s true so no one does, no need you betchya!
    >If she is so low in the polls & popularity why are you guys AFTER HER so much?
Part of being a wingnut are the delusions of grandeur, this is a blog on the Internet, we are not AFTER HER we are mocking the heck of the fools that blindly follow her.
    Yes, that is you.
What we post her has no consequences on Palin whatsoever. I know in the cartoon in your head you imagine Palin reading these posts with you defending her but sweetie, that just isn’t happening.
    >Why do you even bring her into EVERY political/social discussion or respond to supporters of her, like me? hmmm???
Er… the post that these comments are on? It’s about Palin?
And like I said it’s an awful lot of fun to make fun of you. In the real world it’s rude and tasteless to mock retards but on the Internet it’s a great way to kill time.

  27. mark l. says:

“So all those wins were because of Palin? THere were no other factors? Like they would have won without her?”
i give her credit for about 10% of the margin.
the other 90% comes from the fact that the country learned to hate the democrat party, in two short years.
this is the root of the dems’ gripe with the percieved “hate speech”. They don’t understnad how the country could sour on them, that quickly. Someone, anyone, other than themselves must be responsible.

  28. salvage says:

    >the other 90% comes from the fact that the country learned to hate the democrat party, in two short years.
Ha! Ha! Yes! They hate the democrat party except:
Barack Obama’s job approval rating reached the symbolic 50% mark in the latest three-day average from Gallup Daily tracking. Obama’s approval rating has been in the mid-40% range for much of the latter half of 2010. He last hit 50% approval in a three-day average near the end of May/beginning of June.
    http://www.gallup.com/poll/145442/Obama-Job-Approval-Reaches-First-Time-Spring.aspx
Oh wingnuts when will you ever learn that just because you hate something that doesn’t mean everyone hates that something.
    >this is the root of the dems’ gripe with the percieved “hate speech”.
No, I think the root of it is how Palin put a sniper scope on a person who was later shot. Also Teabbagers and their whole “NEXT TIME WE COME BACK WITH GUNS AND SHOOT ALL LIBERALS!” screaming may have something to do with it.
    >They don’t understnad how the country could sour on them, that quickly. Someone, anyone, other than themselves must be responsible.
No, they do, unemployment is high, the Democrats didn’t do enough to address the problem fully.

  29. christina green says:

jesus, why does that man call my grandma a teabagger?
    what is a teabagger?
