Giuliani v. Palin?
- Jennifer of Cubachi
I see the "big controversy" of the day is Giuliani's comments about Palin's use of the word "blood libel." He also said he'll be a contrast to Palin if he enters the 2012 race.
What's false about that? Any republican is a contrast to the other.

oooh…
catfight.
so much better to watch a legit girl fight, than two guys go at it.
“All I know is, Palin and Giuliani are proven leaders who I admire greatly.”
I’m right there with you Cubachi!
I did see in “The Corner” where he defended Palin, and I am starting to rethink him getting into the race. He could be the one to help put her through in the primary. I imagine he would pull votes from the so-called moderates in the race, and it looks like there will be many. If he splits those votes, Palin wins the primary.
Rudy for VP?
In other news, according to a close friend of the couple, Rush Limbaugh’s wife is not too impressed with Sarah… while it was confirmed that DeMint is also not too fond of Ms Palin…(just kidding) and Herman Cain thinks she’s better at cheerleading….(not kidding).
Giuliani and Palin won’t get the nominee in 2012.
“Giuliani and Palin won’t get the nominee in 2012.”
No, but they will make Mitt Romney almost look like a rational choice.

Thank God it’s Friday!
I guess it is too much to hope the Atlantic fires Sullivan.
Great News….Olberman gone at MSNBC…..tonight is his last show…..
Giuliani couldn’t win a state in 2008, the most wide-open GOP field in over a decade.
Hey, if he wants to waste his money–and the money of his delusional followers–I’m cool.
Olberman gone at MSNBC
Olber—who…???
Geez Jennifer, he’s positioning himself SPECIFICALLY in contrast to Palin because he will be one of the stalking horses assigned to focus only on her. Just like Huckleberry was assigned to take out Romney in 2008. This is exactly how the RINO stampede is designed to work.
The solution is for the conservatives to run a stampede of their own. Let’s have Pence, Demint, Bachmann, and a couple of others run for no other reason than to pick a RINO and take them down. It would level the field a bit and open things up for Palin to take on whatever weak RINO has been anointed by the establishment.
The RINO stampede also opens things up for Donald Trump.
Suzie Q,
Let’s not repeat the Reagan/Bush Sr. thing with a good conservative followed by a moderate or liberal. Sarah is pretty mainstream, she needs to be followed up by a more hardcore conservative….I like Pence or Cain for the job.
But there are some jobs where the limitations a man has don’t matter as much because of the job. I hope AG would fit with Rudy. He can be hardcore law and order, and inventively wise about how to deal with crime, and not a bit scared by the bad guys…..which sounds pretty decent for an AG. I hope his social issues weaknesses would not affect how he did his job.
I find the idea of Pasadena’s ReverseRINO Stampede to be interesting. And the good thing about it, even if say Romney took out Palin, but Bachmann won the nomination, I would be pleased still.
Another reason for the RRS is it h eightens the chance Palin chooses a Conservative VP. Remember how treacherous the RINOs were in 08. They might demand Mitch Daniels as VP, and still not support Palin.
I saw on Legal Insurrection, a RINO commenter peddling the line that conservatives just want to rev up the base, and that was all that was needed. But that serious people knew you needed the middle. Sigh. Again.
An enthused base draws in moderates. Going to the middle before ensuring the base is a loser strategy.
Palin/Pence or Palin/Cain w/either w/Rudy as AG.
Tennwriter, most of the middle, at this point, think Palin is further right than she is. We may know she is more centrist, but if the middle still believes otherwise during the campaign, she would need to select someone that appears more centrist than she.
I can see Rudy as AG, but Pence or Cain as potential VP would scare the middle, I think, and you do need the middle to win the presidency. It’s still much too early to worry about who she might pick as a potential VP, though, and listening to an enthused RINO is certainly not in the best interest of Palin.
Agreed, it is way too early to worry, but I’m hoping Palin (praying that she will be the nominee) won’t fall for the idea of having Romney or Huck as VP. These two and their people will undermine Sarah around every corner. As they have proven these past 2 years. They will never give up their dream of having these 2 as president, and undermining Sarah will improve their chances.
She needs someone that will be very loyal to her. I trust Pence/DeMint and Rudy.
Cain, I don’t trust. At this stage no-one shares my distrust of him, but they will come around…
Ricky, Palin would never pick Romney or Huck as her VP. She believes in loyalty, and knows that either of those 2 are completely out for themselves. Pence or Demint appear to be more socially conservative than the middle would like. We’ll have to wait and see how Rudy would come off agaiunst her in a primary. He’s not been very negative against her.
Susie Q,
One of the least popular of socon issues is the border fence with 70% approval. There’s an awful lot of the middle in that number.
The natural leaders of the GOP are the socons aka trucons aka The Base. They show in themselves the full spectrum of conservatism, and unlike fiscons, they’re less likely to squish like a fish.
What we need is an end to sniping from our ‘allies’, and a full bold, happy, all the way across the board Conservatism.
We know that the Washington, aka Centrist Republicans will not support anyone they do not approve of. Hence the Murk in the Senate. Hence no help from them in Nevada. Hence their sitting on their hands when our own little witch won the nomination over that squish in Delaware. Meanwhile we had the best campaign slogan anywhere: vote for McDonnel, she turned Gingrich into a newt!
I do not know that we’ll have much luck in National elections until we squash the squishes.
