"I'm interested in the gratuitous disparagement of men whose looks and personal style fail to track the masculine stereotype," Ann Althouse (above) took Rush Limbaugh to task this morning over his sissy-laced rant about Wikileaker Julian Assange: "I like Rush Limbaugh and have defended him many times, in front of people who tend to hate you if you say anything good about him, so I think my opinion on the subject has special weight … And let me invite Rush to … diavlog with me about the so-called chickification problems that plague our world today." "Loved this that you told the Big Guy," we wrote in the comments of Althouse's incandescent, must-experience video-post "Here I am listening — for the first time — to Rush Limbaugh talking about me":

"To say men are like women when they're being cowardly and weak. I don't like it … Also, some chickification is a good thing. Women have a lot to offer. Think about it."

Exactly. As we wrote a few months back about the so-called feminization of our culture:

It isn't "feminization" at all, but, rather, postmodern, identity-politics "feminism" — one of a cascade of unfortunate byproducts of the Gramscian march through the institutions — that has given us an increasingly impotent chattering class of credulous Chris Matthewses of both sexes

Effeminate males today display the classic traits of feminism, that is not meant to disparage women but it’s meant to describe how far the traits of some in both genders have strayed from the classic definitions of masculine and feminine.
Women like Ann Coulter(and I’m sure Ann would agree), Palin, and Bachman have taken on the rolls of the masculine conservative, especially in the manner in which they engage our political adversaries. Rhetoric that used to be used by Goldwater and Reagan are now being used by these brave women. As a male I find it strange and disheartening that the John Wayne type mantle has been handed over to women.
The other thing I find saddening is the fact that males have handed over the roles of leadership to women and have now fallen under subjection of female authority.I believe this is the reason we are seeing more effeminate males, because the systems have been perverted the world over. Homosexuality is on the rise and terms like metro-sexual are now being used to define straight effeminate males. Does anyone else find that strange?
If you believe in the Christian faith as I do, you know that Eve came under the subjection of Adam after the serpent tempted her in the Garden. The natural role of the male/female relationship changed in an instant especially in marriage. For Rush or anyone else to recognize this speaks to the fact that what we are seeing is the reason why the spiritual, economic and political systems are crumbling today. Don’t get me wrong, if we can’t field a candidate like Jim Demint in 2012, Sarah Palin has my full support.

Thought provoking. Crude, crass, rough and coarse used to be more masculine.
I think a world without women would have most of the toys we see in this but we’d all be living in tents.
As women have moved into positions once reserved for men in hierarchies, men feel relieved of the need to participate, to contribute with the former level of commitment, of personal responsibility.
I suspect this change is directly tied to proximity. Our world is more urban, our daily lives more intimate, communication with other humans more nearly continual.

  3. Sissy Willis says:

Todd Palin puts all such arguments to rest.

  4. Done That says:

Another attention seeking blogger? Well, that would be nothing new. I wonder how many people from both the left and right have used Rush to get attention, probably more than even I realize.

  5. Sissy Willis says:

Perhaps some of them may even be intrigued with Rush’s thinking and seek to engage him in intellectual swordplay.

  6. dwalk says:

Sissy, Todd Palin isn’t special in his role of man, Mr. Mom(as Ms. Palin puts it) or provider. I would never argue that there is something wrong with a man that takes care of his family, however I would argue that there is something wrong with a man that would allow himself to fall under the authority of his wife, as that would be reversing or rather perverting the God defined roles of male/female relationship. Nothing that I’ve seen would tell me that Mr. Palin has surrendered his authority to his wife.
What was born out of the WWII generation was feminism, tolerance, and social justice. All of that was intended to render the authoritarian male and the family structure, impotent. Ask yourself this, are we better off now with a more feminized, enlightened culture? Or were we better off during the years of our greatest generation?

Finally. A troll with some production values around this joint.

  8. Sissy Willis says:

dwalk: I disagree with your definition of a feminized culture. As I said above:
It isn’t “feminization” at all, but, rather, postmodern, identity-politics “feminism” — one of a cascade of unfortunate byproducts of the Gramscian march through the institutions — that has given us an increasingly impotent chattering class of credulous Chris Matthewses of both sexes.

Sissy, exactly how did we get a Gramscian type educational system? When the Feds forced most of the CPUSA underground during the 1920′s they went into the education system and have been slowly eroding it ever since. All of the radical social justice and radical feminist movements were born out of that.
We’ve seen for years feminist “men” fighting along side women for abortion rights, while at the same time forfeiting their rights as fathers. We have seen for years the attempted abolishment of the traditional family brought on by those that have come out of the Gramscian institutions. I certainly wouldn’t call the men that have brought about the looming destruction of this country impotent, however, I would say that the current state of affairs have been brought about by feminized males that view rugged individualism as archaic.

    Sissy,
I like reading your blog a couple times a week. Same with Althouse.
I think Althouse is more than average smart. OTOH, she supported Obama which is a sign of serious deficiencies of something.
I can’t get vids on my dial up, but I doubt it matters too much to the following two points.
    1. Althouse wants ‘intellectual swordplay’ with Rush, well, she might as well engage in real swordplay with a Master of Kenjutsu. Either way, she’s out of her league, and going to get carved up especially with this whining about ‘women have something to offer too’. I’m sure that notion never, ever, ever occurred to Rush that woman have useful skills. Pathetic.
    2. You’re trying to appeal to conservative guys. We’re not impressed. Other arguements you make impress. This one, thumbs down. I don’t want to be rude, Sissy, because I respect you, but this time…. Talk to the hand.

  11. Sissy Willis says:

Tennwriter: Had to look up “talk to the hand.” Not sure from your comments what you take my argument to be. Oh, well. http://bit.ly/dLq09A
