Graceful in defeat, Bristol Palin shows “everything worthwhile comes through effort”
"Bristol Palin saved her best performances for last," says Gretchen Carlson of Fox and Friends. (Adam Larkey/ABC)

"You've apparently bought the media spin. I suggest you do a little research of your own before repeating the shopworn talking points of the Palin haters," we replied to commonrabble in the comments of Hillary Chabot's latest Boston Herald report on Bristol Palin's "Dancing with the Stars" adventure. (Previous reports here and here.) Here's what we wrote:
Bristol won the admiration and respect of a lot of us out here in television land by her gritty determination and "girls-just-wanna-have-fun" spirit, proving what her mother twittered last night in a note of appreciation: "Congrats Jen, Kyle, Bristol et al for proving competition is GOOD! Remember: 'They're going to criticize anyway, so you might as well dance!'"
As one of reporter Chabot's local quote sources for all things Palin, we were amused to read that "Tea Party blogger Sissy Willis … sat glued to the TV last night and faithfully voted for Palin" …

Bristol is a beautiful girl, inside and out. A beautiful tribute by her mother. Mark showed so much class and grace in his treatment and support of her. There is a saying, “kill people with kindness.” It’s hard for people to criticize her when you know how nice she is. God Bless you Bristol and Mark.
Exactly what JL said….
Class and grace do not seem to be real words to the libs, however, to REAL people, these words are high compliments.
Way to go, Bristol! I know your Mom is SUPER proud of you! Keep on dancing with a smile in your heart.
What other 18 y.o. girl would be subjected to death threats just for appearing on a TV show? I didn’t watch the show (I don’t like these kinds of shows and never watch them) but it is sickening that anyone would be subjected to that kind of treatment while under constant snark attack by the “establishment”. What kind of country have we become? Just think of the outrage had Chelsea Clinton been subjected to such boorish treatment. I hope Bristol makes some good lemonade out of this.
I don’t know what’s worse – the snarky critiques, or the saccharine platitudes.
I’m guessing Bristol is glad this is over so she can get away from both.
It’s always so High School in Palin-landia.
No surprise that Sissy Wills etc. have their pom poms out…
I never watched or voted for DWTS. This Monday I did, all for Bristol. Reading all the hateful, poisonous remarks about her for no reason other than she dares to be a Palin.
I do hope I catch a bit in repeat. I missed Bristol and Mark’s dance (she looks outstanding in Dan’s pic), and my kids came in so I shifted over to some DVD’s of MacGyver.
Why can’t they make another MacGyver, btw? That show had SO many cool things about it.
Mike,
I might agree with you if it was just snark vs. saccharine. But one, I think ‘hateful, poisonous’ is probably more on the mark, and saccharine well that stands for artificiality. Sugary might be a better word.
Yes, we Jacksonians are romantics. We put our women on pedestals and expect them to be Steel Magnolias. We adore them, and protect them, and just plain bust out laughing in uproarious approval when they get ticked and rip the Bowie knife out of our hands and gut the vermin that threaten them on their own.
Palin, Palin, Palin, Palin, Palin,, Please somebody help me get this woman outta’ my head!!! Palin, Palin, Palin, Palin……..
Who is this Sissy Wills of whom you speak? She sounds very insightful.
“Graceful in defeat, Bristol Palin shows ‘everything worthwhile comes through effort’”
…but having a rich and famous mommy doesn’t hurt.
Just ask Jonah Goldberg.
It was encouraging to see a young woman like Bristol showing so much strength, grace and beauty in the face of such hate. Even with death threads against her, she went out and gave her best dance performances! Now that is someone my daughters can look up to, and they do. (Imagine if Jen or Brandy had received death threats…)
God bless the parents who raise such strong children.
It was good that she came in 3rd. That way she actually got more attention than the other two. (Rom. 8:28 God makes all things work together for good for those who love Him.) The video about her journey on DWTS was beautiful, and good PR for her. It also re-inforced the message of who the real Bristol is – and that is what this was all about for the Palins – to let America see the real Bristol and judge for themselves. Judging from the reaction of the people around me, America fell in love with Bristol.
Only the true haters will still believe the LSM narrative – cause they want to. There is nothing we can do about that.
Good for Bristol! Pleased to see she made it to the finals and was able to earn the max for her efforts. Took a bit of steel backbone to get out in front of the millions of viewers considering she had never before danced, and has not been a performer as were ALL of the others.
The comments about the rich mother–does anyone remember it has been considerably less than 2 years in which this was accomplished. Kudos to the Palins!
I cannot believe, I read so many, many comments of how the Palins cannot just go away, people hating to read about them, etc., etc., etc. If you do not want to read about the Palins, don’t click on an article, watch a video clip or watch on T.V. No one has forced that on you. And, I am getting tired of having to click over the negative comments. If you don’t like the Palins, don’t use the space to comment about them.
barfo: “Just ask Jonah Goldberg.” Hmmm, rich and famous parents…..
Or Pinch Sulzburger.
Or any of the Kennedy’s.
Or Katrina VandenHeuval.
Or Andrew Cuomo.
Or Robert Casey.
Or Jerry Brown.
Or Algore.
Or Chelsea Clinton.
And now, the obambi daughters.
See where this is going?
Oh, what’s a more interesting question? How about: Which individuals are self-made, and which aren’t?
Oops! That excludes all the Kennedy’s.
Ouch.
And don’t get me started on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation Hollywood types!
“I am getting tired of having to click over the negative comments”.
Yes, if one was so inclined that must get exhausting. No escape from it, I’m sure…
