KTVA-CBS 11 Compounds Scandal After Caught Targeting Miller’s Senate Campaign

Last night news broke that Anchorage's CBS affiliate KTVA News 11 reporters were caught on tape discussing ways in which they could potentially embarass the Senate campaign of Republican Joe Miller.

Anchorage CBS Affiliate Caught on Voicemail Conspiring Against Alaska’s GOP Senate Candidate

Now, note the irony captured below in KTVA's local coverage of yesterday's so called Restoring Sanity rally. Above they are exposed for conspiring to generate yet another negative headline grabbing story in an effort to damage Miller's Senate campaign. Now, in their rally coverage, they quote an activist criticizing both Sarah Palin and Joe Miller for allegedly generating so much of that very kind of news.

In essence, CBS' KTVA is exposed above for generating negative coverage, and now we see them doubling back to highlight an activist's negative reaction to such news - in this case, presumably to also damage Miller's campaign. At this point, CBS affiliate KTVA appears to be engaged in political activism, not journalism. Finally, they hit the talking points they wanted, yet couldn't make their copy coherent. Their editors must have their prioities, I suppose.

About 100 potential voters toting sing(sic) supporting US Senate candidate Scott McAdams and showing messages like, "Think outside the Fox News Extreme Media," filled the campus.

Fairview community activist Kokayi Nosakhere says lately there has not been a lot of Alaska politics he is proud of. "Even though Alaska politics have been extremely interesting the last two years, it has been embarrassing. Just like Shannyn Moore said when you go to travel and the only things people are talking about are Sarah Palin, Joe Miller and how they do not understand what's going on in Alaska," says Nosakhere.

Comments:
  1. Duke says:

If I were Miller, I’d publicly and formally request the CBS affiliate to file FEC disclosure forms for in-kind contributions to the McAdams campaign, and if they didn’t I’d sue to compel them to do so after the election. Seem’s a surefire way for heads to roll inside that affiliate, which is the only way to deter it the next time.

  2. Moobs says:

this is suprising only to the murkowskibots

  3. steveegg says:

The question is whether the donation should be counted for McAdams or Murkowski. I say half-and-half.

  4. will says:

“Fairview community activist Kokayi Nosakhere says…”
Just what is a community activist anyway?

  5. Lew says:

The Communication Act of 1934 has a section “SEC. 508. [47 U.S.C. 508] PROHIBITED PRACTICES IN CASE OF CONTESTS OF INTELLECTUAL KNOWLEDGE, INTELLECTUAL SKILL,OR CHANCE.” that might cover this.
    (a) It shall be unlawful for any person, with intent to deceive the listening
    or viewing public–
Not being a Lawyer, I have no idea. Having suffered through the FCC Radio Telephone First Class Exam, maybe it is time to recall that info. A wise lawyer could make something of that section.

  6. Ken James says:

“…..the only things people are talking about are Sarah Palin, Joe Miller and how they do not understand what’s going on in Alaska,” says Nosakhere.”
If you only talk to people who think the same as you, of course that’s all you’ll here. I imagine that Miller and Palin supporters would think people like Nosegoeshere are the problem.

  7. Moobs says:

people like Nosackinthebed are underestimating sarah and it will come back to bite them in their fanny

  8. JadedByPolitics says:

Set up a diary with the phone number for them, let WE The People shut down their telephones and make their embarrassment a National news story!

  9. Cousin Dave says:

Lew, if I lived there, I’d find out when KTLA’s license is up for renewal, and use this information to challenge their license.

  10. Lew says:

Cousin Dave you make a good point. It could be used to challenge their license, but don’t hold your breath.

  11. Dustin says:

The corrupt have an absolute stranglehold on media up there. Say the wrong thing and your show is canceled, while the media plans disgusting smears.
This has been going on for ages, but it’s really shameless in Alaska lately.
Alaska can decide if it wants to be the state of the corrupt, or the state of the free. It can handcuff its fate to the bankrupt federal government, or stand on its own two feet.

  12. chercast says:

In my opinion, there needs to be a quicker more direct public outcry, like a rally held around the affiliate during their evening news broadcast where a larger group of people voice their displeasure in a peaceful but public way…preferably held the day of the election. Have speakers hooked up with the audio of the phone message….and play it over and over again.
Free press is not free to make things up.

  13. George says:

I don’t think anything, including this Hail Mary attempt, can save Teabagger Joe. He is going down with a thud.

  14. Ob D. says:

Vote for Miller! Throw out the entire political class. The people need to take back the government. The pathetic liberal groupthink lemmings should just be ignored for now, as they are a fringe element in American society but cannot outvote the people.

  15. Anne says:

The sucking sound you hear is Palin’s so-called political aspirations going down the drain with Miller. If you can’t win your own state you are finished.

  16. Ken James says:

Anne: The reason reporters do the sort of thing being discussed here is because they know there are many people, like yourself, who will believe any lie they hear. Their livelihood depends on it. They depend on you to believe it, and they are rarely disappointed because there are so very many like you out there….way out there. Myths that were debunked years ago are still being spoken of as if they are fact.
Palin is hated simply because the MFM has told you over and over and over again that it is your duty to hate her. And you want to do your duty, like the good little follower you are. You go girl. You are special. You are so unique. You are so original.

  17. George says:

Looks like Palin camp preparing the post-election rationalization for losing. “We were cheated” I don’t think it will work. It will be a serious blow to Palin to lose Alaska.

  18. Johnson says:

Another example of the poor judgement of Sarah Palin backing Miller.

  19. Ramona says:

Alaskans about to give a collective slap across the face to Sarah Palin.

  20. Ken James says:

It is hard to tell if some of these commentors are liberals or GOP Murkowski supporters. That in itself is shameful that Republicans would act this way. If you are Republicans, then shame on you for trashing Palin, and approving of the conduct of these so-called journalists. If you are liberal, why are you even here? You can yell and cheer all you want for a Murkowski victory, but isn’t it the least bit unseemly to you that you are supporting a Republican? You lose no matter who is elected. That makes you losers in more ways than one.

  21. blake says:

You gotta love these losers proclaiming that Sarah Palin showed poor judgment backing Miller.
Hey, any of you losers dumping on Palin stop to think that perhaps Palin was right on in supporting Miller over Manalowski? Just what would the GOP be saying about Miller if he were trying to run a write in campaign? Think maybe Miskrewski would be all over Miller and telling Miller he should back the primary winner?
This election shows just what the cocktail GOP is all about. The beltway GOP is personified by what Lisa M is trying to do in Alaska.
Remember, none of this would be an issue if Queen Lisa has accepted the loss in the primaries.

  22. Ralph says:

I doubt if even Breitbart’s last minute smears can help Miller now.

  23. Marty says:

Oh, it’s pretty obvious the link got posted at Kos or DU and the riff-raff clicked over.

  24. Jasmine Givens says:

This is why I do the opposite of what the MSM or alphabet news tells me to do. I have my own mind and I use it. Just like Im voting for Carl Paladino because the media tells me not to. I learned recently that liberals have been and continue to intend to keep minorities down and out and I will not take that anymore! We are NOT a tool or a slave at their begging! I am a freed former liberal democrat!!!
    NYC power!

  25. Ugg Boots says:

Boy! What have I done? What luck!
