Leftist Mike Castle Attacked From Left For Being Teh Gay
Via Hot Air headlines, with no context, because they often care more about hit generating controversy than context, or politics:
"Isn't Mike Castle cheating on his wife with a man?" asks a voice off-screen at the 1:55 mark. "That's the rumor," answers the newscaster. (A short clip of the exchange is above.)
But this didn't begin with the Right. It began with the Left in 2006:
"I recall the gay bars years back and how many of my gay friends saw him there, perhaps he is having a breakdown as the real Mike Castle gets revealed to the public."
Geez, Liz is a committed radical-leftist. Ya'd think she'd actually want to help Castle in coming out of the closet, wouldn't 'ya? I mean, there's not anything wrong with it, right?
But the real story today is how Leftist Castle, the most far-Left Republican there is, is stooping to typical Leftist thug tactics in attacking O'Donnell with an attack site – and spreading it via the usual Beltway-aligned, or non-conservative and media suspects.
Matt Lewis tweets Mataconis. It's being pushed by Hotline. And CQ Politics. And likely started at Delaware Online. So, there's a full fledged, ugly attack on a conservative coming from a far Leftist. But that's not news to some of our so-called friends. They'd rather carry Castle's water because he's already in the Senate, perhaps. This is the Beltway GOP in action, fighting against conservatives to preserve itself. And if it means partnering up with a Republican who votes with Obama and not them, so what?

We already know in the case of David Frum. Conservatives shouldn't push this crap, they should be pushing back against ugly Leftist attacks, just like the suggestion that Castle is teh gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that, or anything. I guess they're just saving it for the general election, perhaps.
… on Tuesday August 31st, and on Wednesday September 1st, Mike Castle’s campaign launched their official Christine O’Donnell attack site.

Okay, I read the “attack site”, and it is largely devoid of content.
O’Donnell’s yard upkeep is endorsed by opossums.
She isn’t wealthy.
Powerline thinks that her getting the nomination might cause the seat to go Democratic, whereas if Castle gets the nomination and wins the seat, it only goes half-Democratic.
Endorsements by outside agitators like Palin, Gingrinch, and Huckabee are awful, so isn’t it great that they are not getting involved in Delaware, because their absence couldn’t possibly be strategic (that would require thought, of which they are incapable) – it must mean that O’Donnell isn’t far-right enough to garner their interest. But she is such an extremist nut-case that she can’t possibly win. Heads I win, tails you lose.
I don’t know Delaware politics enough to know whether O’Donnell could win a general election (this is the state, after all, that sent Slow Joe Biden to the Senate his entire adult life). However, if this is the best the “attack site” can do, there isn’t much there to attack, and her electability isn’t due to some skeleton in the closet that this site is revealing.
OK, even if (for the sake of argument) he’s been seen in a gay bar, that hardly makes him gay. I’m about as straight as they get, but I do have gay friends and I’ve been to gay bars (also with several of my female friends). It’s hardly a big deal.

Ace makes the point today that while Castle might be a RINO this lady is unelectable and more than a little odd. I think the GOP would be nuts to throw a sure win and someone who can not win and who has said and done some pretty strange stuff. O’Donnell is no Joe Miller.

Same is said about Sharon Angle and Kelly Ayotte-that they are TOO EXTREME FAR RIGHT.
Apparently only RINOs can win? This is about as true as Catholics supporting life.
