Menendez, NJ Dems Call Tea Party Movement Racist
In an effort to protect NJ Senator Robert Menendez, under attack from NJ Tea Party groups, several prominent NJ Democrats are playing the race card, actually labeling the movement as raaaacist. This is an issue for Menendez now. If he doesn't step up, denounce these statements and tell NJ Democrats to chill, he may soon find himself the target of Tea Party and grassroots activists from around the country, not just his home state!
New Jersey Democrats are coming out with guns blazing against a tea party-led effort to recall Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez, with the state party chairman going so far as to brand the campaign racist.
Last week, newly minted Democratic Chairman John Wisniewski blasted the recall campaign as extremist, saying that it was no accident that it was targeting Menendez, the only Hispanic in the Senate. And without mentioning her by name, Wisniewski took a shot at the recall campaign’s leader, Sussex County tea party founder RoseAnn Salanitri.
“The attempt to recall Sen. Menendez is an affront to the voters of New Jersey and has no standing in law. One day these folks are trying to disprove human evolution, the next day they are challenging the constitutionality of the Constitution,” Wisniewski said in the statement, making a not-so-veiled reference to Salanitri, who has spoken out against the theory of evolution. “These are radical people who chose Menendez off of a list of Democrats because of the sound of his last name.”
“They launched the assault against our duly elected U.S. senator and against the U.S. Constitution,” Robert Asaro-Angelo, the executive director of the New Jersey Democratic Party, wrote in an e-mail. “We can’t allow their extreme right-wing plans to continue to be falsely characterized as grass-roots populism.”

Ya just get to the point where…what can you say about these stories anymore ? Not too much more to say about the depths of corruption which is allowed and encouraged in America today. Used to be the greatest country on Earth when I was young……really sad to watch the destruction of America during my lifetime.
I want to see that jerk of a senator I have in NJ pummeled in the election. And as a Cuban American, he is a disgrace. He certainly doesn’t represent me nor any of the conservatives and tea partiers in NJ. Hopefully with the election of Chris Christie, there will also be a sea change in the senate and Menendez is out.
If New Jersey Latinos want to go down this road and marginalize the Latino community the way the African-American community is, by all means, stick with the Democrats that will always take you for granted.
Note it’s not the Republicans that EVER play the race card, but it’s ALWAYS the Dems that say “Your motivations have to be racist!”
But 93% approval of Barack Obama by the African-American community when the rest of the country hates the man has nothing to do with race.
Sure. Republicans are the racists here.
I’ve got news for you, African-American Dems (and Latinos as well). Do you think you’ll ever get a quality candidate as long as affirmative action exists? If Obama were not a person of color, would you have voted for him? Can you honestly say he’s been a good President?
If he was, why are his approval ratings negative among EVERY OTHER DEMOGRAPHIC GROUP at this point?
Can you defend this position? I don’t think so.
Lightwave: Us Texas latinos rebelled quite some time ago.
I’d say if you really want to rile this guy, get some of the Latino and black tea partiers in the area to bring a cheapo survival raft up to his office, complete with a chauffer holding his name on a sign.
Nothing and I mean nothing ticks off a Latino like another Latino accusing them of being an illegal alien.
Andrew – ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! ROFL!
i encourage everyone of hispanic and or african american dissent to send a curt, but polite email to the above democratic leaders and let them know how baseless thier assertions of “racism” really are. i am sick and tired of this country being led down into a black hole of debt because of politicians spewing accusations of racism anytime someone stands up to their spend-a-thon. the only color that matters here is RED and this country is seriously IN THE RED. we are broke yet they keep on spending as if there is no tomorrow. this is ridiculous! these people have got to go! when this country is bankrupt it will be people of every race that will suffer. this president has got to go, and the congressional leadership that has been complicit in this spend-a-thon has got to go as well!
Don’t lose sight of the fact that it was the crud Wisniewski who made the comments.
Uh oh. Creationism rears its lovely head. Apparently the “recall campaign’s leader, Sussex County tea party founder RoseAnn Salanitri” is, indeed, as Dem Chair Wisniewski is quoted in Politico piece, “trying to disprove human evolution.” From Creation Science Alive website, complete with ear=jarring musical accompaniment:
“Have you ever asked yourself why our culture seems to be disintegrating all around us? Why the moral standards we all seem to have had in common a few decades ago seem to have blown away with the wind? The answer may lie in the public classrooms around the world where evolution is being taught as empirical science. Fair warning – this is going to be rough reading.”
Indeed.

This voter is mad as hell! http://tinyurl.com/teadoff
Nice ad hom sissy. Would you say that, like man made global warming, evolution is settled science?
RoseAnn Salanitri probably denies global warming, believes in the Okeefenokee Skunk Ape and spent time with Louis Farrakhan on the Mother Ship.
Ah, since when is uniformity of thought required on the theory of evolution?
“Settled” science? Whassat? Like anthropogenic global warming, creationism and its gussied-up offspring ID are matters of faith. That doesn’t mean the devout aren’t nice people, but what they need to learn about science is a lot.
It’s the only thing they can think of.
Well, they’ve got to protect their phony-baloney jobs somehow.
Crying “racism” is no different than crying “wolf” – when will these losers learn?
My (generalized) response:
Is that all you got?
Why aren’t you defending Menendez’s votes, outlook, political philosophy?
“Would you say that, like man made global warming, evolution is settled science?”
Yes, evolution is settled science.
The reason?
It’s based on real science, and rejects junk science, unlike the AGW crap.
See Man, Piltdown.
Racism? The man is whiter than me.
What if….Evolution and Creationism are both wrong?
How many of you have done the research necessary to scientifically disprove your theories? From my own research into these matters, neither side has a valid theory to offer. A theory which offers no method of invalidating the theory is no legitimate theory at all.
Neither side of the debate offers anything substantial except for a requirement to believe what they are told by their betters in their traditional institutions.
Funnily enough, both sides want to dominate the discussion and control our educational institutions.
…and the ad homs against dissenting opinions fly fast and furiously from both sides.
When the arguments from both are full of little of any substance, and baked throughout with logical fallacies, it becomes obvious that neither desires any other outcome but control over the thoughts and lives of other people.
Neither side will allow others the freedom of their own thoughts or the freedom to pursue their own investigations. Neither side will allow that others have discovered facts that they have overlooked or else have attempted to hide or otherwise dismiss.
Such men and women have no desire for freedom, for themselves or for others.
