RNC Cash: Disintermediation And Having It Both Ways
I think it reasonable to assume Republican giving is poised for an up-tick given recent buzz, as well as the recent SCOTUS ruling. So, I'm not overly worried about this, myself. What I find most annoying is that some of the same people beating the drum the loudest to not give to various Republican organizations are likely to be some of the first ones to step up and slam the GOP for fund raising issues. People need to grow up and decide what it is they want. A flush GOP, or one you want to deride and call irrelevant. If it's that, then what's the big deal. We be disintermediatin' anyway! heh!
Two major governorships and Ted Kennedy's old Senate seat in hand and the sky is falling? I'm unconvinced. I think some people just want to be mad at something no matter what. I'd rather channel my energies into winning in 2010. And there's every reason to believe the GOP will have more than enough cash on hand. It's what we as a group are going to do outside of that which will provide the critical difference this year. I hope to do much, not sit around and bitch. But suit yourself.
But the party's cash-on-hand total has dwindled from $22.8M, thanks largely to heavy spending in efforts to win NJ and VA GOV races and on a $2M campaign to beat back health care reform.
