NYC Broke, Funds Handbook On How To Shoot Dope Safely

Argue de-criminalization if you want. Even so, is it smart for government to pay to publish guidebooks on how to shoot Heroin? We can't even educate kids in Math, English and Science. Maybe we should be limiting, not expanding, the subject matter? Or will we be paying for things like this with healthcare dollars under ObamaCare?

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York City-funded guidebook for heroin users offers information on how to prepare drugs carefully and care for veins to avoid infection.

The state's top official with the Drug Enforcement Administration calls the "Take Charge Take Care" guide a "step-by-step instruction on how to inject a poison." DEA special agent-in-charge John Gilbride says the handout is disturbing.

The city's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene printed about 70,000 copies.

Comments:
  1. D. Kneitel says:

Well, after a year of Obama I’m ready for heroin; I’ll do rehab in 2012.

  2. Harm reduction (teaching junkies how to keep from getting AIDS and hepatitis, among other things) *does* make some sense.
Not as much sense as decriminalizing everything from pot to heroin and treating addiction to the harder stuff as a medical, not a legal, problem, of course.
*Far* too many people are deriving *far* too much money and power from the current situation for it to change much, in all likelihood.
