Mom Sends Pics, Soldier In Afghanistan Charged With Child Porn?

If this is the innocent activity the news item suggests it was, this, in a word, is FUBAR.

Miller's father, Rodney, said the Army won't discuss the case with the family. But he said his son has told him the charges stem from a handful of photos of the girl that the soldier's mother e-mailed to ease his homesickness.

"I can't believe that the Army's doing this to our son; it's unbelievable," Rodney Miller said from his home in Galesburg, about 55 miles south of Davenport, Iowa. "The Army and the government's telling us more or less that it's none of our business."

The pictures show the girl in a swimsuit playing in a pool and sitting on Billy Miler's pickup truck, according to the family. A small portion of one of the girl's buttocks is visible in one, Rodney Miller said.

they’ve kept him for months without a trial, or anything else, and yet Mom, the purveyor of the alleged pr0n, hasn’t been visited by the FBI. either he had something else on the PC, or this is just typical lifer BS, screwing with a Reservist because its not like they are *real* Soldiers.
i am *so* glad i finally got my 20 year letter…..

i forgot to add this above, but my sneaking suspicion is that they are holding him over there, hoping to wear him down to the point he gives up and takes a plea bargain, just to get home, so they won’t have to admit they screwed the pooch on the whole deal.
when the Active side gets stuck on st00pid, they can pull bowling balls through IV tubing tied up in knots and heat sealed at both ends.
it’s a helluva note that this po’ bastid has fewer rights than the knicker bomber does. WTF is wrong with this picture?

WTF, r4card. Get someone who actually speaks English to read the article to you in Indonesian.

  4. KingShamus says:

    Pretty sad.
If this is nothing but an innocent mistake, I hope this guy gets out soon.

  5. leilani says:

lol, jewel! I was just about to ask r4card if she was my offshore PC support technician last week. She prolly oughtta consider running this article through babelfish again.

  6. Dan Riehl says:

r4 is just spam, posting semi relevant comments to draw links to some BS. It’s the latest fad, unfortunately – trying to get around spam detectors.

actually, “redc1c4″ is a california native, who spent 20 years and change in the CA ARNG and USAR, in various units while holding a variety of MOS’s, to include 11B and 19D, and therefore has first hand knowledge of just how stupid the Army can be, especially when it comes to Reservists.
my informed guess is that there is either a lot more to the story than what is reported in the article, or someone in the ‘stan is practicing CYA by hanging this guy out to dry.

  8. Dan Riehl says:

that was another r4 I was referring to – their comments have been deleted.

    /me wipes egg from face….
    whoops.
    sorry ’bout that.

  10. Fe says:

They should release the name of the UN soldiers who ratted him our for not sharing. /sarc

    Hello, Dan Riehl:
Back in the 1980s, when they invented that “child pornography” stuff, I wrote a lot of letters about it, that were published in newspapers. Didn’t think about it, for a lot of years, but now it seems they are pushing it, again. I sure wish I could help that poor soldier!
    Best wishes,
    Gerald Baker
