NY – 23: Scozzafava Doing Robo Calls For Owens

By
November 1, 2009

No link. Just got tipped to it from a reliable source in New York. Dede Scozzafava must have recorded a call for Democrat Owens. Sounds like she's determined to pay the GOP back, but not for the wasted million-plus.

Comments:
  1. I honestly still can’t believe this. It’s like straight out of a movie.
    Shameful.

  2. NeoconBlonde says:

Wonder if there is a cause of action here against her by the GOP? Some sort of breach of implied contract?

  3. NeoconBlonde says:

Breach of employment contract? Implied noncompete? She applied and interviewed for, essentially hired by the local GOP [in this instance because there was no primary] the position of endorsed GOP candidate and was selected for the job. The mere fact that she dropped out could qualify as a breach because she didn’t even see the election through. Possible fraud action?
Have not seen anything on Volokh yet.

  4. Dan Riehl says:

I doubt it. It isn’t business, it’s political activity. She has constitutional rights like anyone else. We wouldn’t want to start making political acts actionable. Besides, it could be argued the GOP rejected her. Look at the high profile Republicans who endorsed the Conservative Party candidate.

  5. Doug_s says:

You are now in the twilight zone – followed by the death and torture zone. Welcome.

  6. Larry Sheldon says:

    With RNC dollars.
I’d sure like to see the FEC report on this one.

  7. Nick Reynolds says:

    Bad Dede . . . no bisquit!

  8. Scott says:

The Republican Party ENDORSED HER. Paid her bills.
All this says to me, paraphrasing a Arizona Cardinal coach, that Scozzafava was who we thought she was.
If you are fiscally liberal, you should expect the axe. Enough of this. The tea parties (which I’ve never attended, but support) aren’t about agendas, they’re about monetary responsibility. That is severely lacking in our political class.
Even if Hoffman loses, I think this has been a valuable exercise for 2010.

  9. jgreene says:

This woman deserves to be ostarcized by decent people. She was the Republican pick. Goes to show you how BAD the Republican Party Apparatus is in in New York State.
RINOs are going to have an increasingly difficult time in the future in the Republican Party. If you don’t respect and believe in the US Constitution and Liberty it’s time to RETIRE from leadership in the Republican Party. Bye Bye RINOs.

  10. Dan Maloney says:

Scozzafava needs to be thrown out of the Republican Party regardless of the state office she holds.

It is long past time to take back control and put it in the hands of adults.

  11. Dante says:

LOL! The GOP deserves what they’re getting. Anyone talking about “breach of contract” should be tarred and feathered. You think the GOP is YOUR friend????

  12. El Duende says:

Smells like the fix was in from the beginning. When Obama nominated McHugh the leftists conspired to put two candidates on the ballot, one on the Republican ticket and one in the Democrat ticket.

  13. naturalfake says:

B-b-b-but, this was a Stalinist purge! Frank Rich said it was!
See the surprising historical parallels between NY-23 and Soviet politics.

But use it next time you excrete

  15. CHRI$ DODD says:

    We’ve been thrown under the “Pelosi-Couch” by Newt’s pick…AGAIN!

  16. penny says:

Hey, NY GOP, you morons, got an answer for Dede?
It’s time, folks, to Google your local GOP committee and be there at their next meeting. A whole lot of house cleaning needs to be done everywhere locally. Betcha too many of them on the committees are aging quasi-lib(RINO) females that have done the most damage to both parties. PTA types with their silly feely stuff always in play do not serve the real world and real politics well. I’m a female, so it isn’t sexist, it’s reality.
    Guys, we need your counter-weight.

  17. Calypso Jones says:

RNC money? no problem. I hope it hurt them. They’re just not going to be getting any of my money to play their game. They haven’t since about 2006.

  18. NeoconBlonde says:

Penny, you saying that it isn’t sexist because you are a female is like when a black person uses the N-word and says it isn’t racist. I’m sorry, but there are plenty of socially liberal Republican women [read pro-choice, gay rights, ERA supporters] who don’t condone the rampant taxing and spending. Besides, all the PTA types I know [and such is my world right now. LOL] are more more traditionalists than “feely”.

  19. templar knight says:

Neo, my local Repub committee is 5 female, 2 male, so maybe penny has a point. I will say that the women on this committee are more concerned about how they look to the community than the men. For instance, they don’t want to look too radical, which plays into the hands of the Democrats in some ways. However, it is important to weed out the true radicals, some of whom want Texas to seceed and silliness like that. Perhaps it’s some of both.

  20. NeoconBlonde says:

There have been plenty of male spend-happy Republicans [I do not like using the term moderate as many moderates are not spend-happy, but just socially liberal on civil liberty issues] running around who have caused as much, if not more, damage to the conservative brand/classical liberalism.
