Where Are The Republicans On Limbaugh?
Rather than write a new post, I'm simply going to publish the relevant bit of an email just sent to a friend.
Given that the two most recent Republican Presidents called in to sing Rush Happy Birthday, where are they in terms of any political leadership on this? It is a political lynching, after all. It looks as if they're more interested in existing as a somewhat viable political party in an America dominated by a lying liberal tyranny.
The whole group should put on skirts and appear with Sharpton at his next event, the cowardly jerks. If this were a liberal the usual Democrats would be demanding hearings before long.

“It looks as if they’re more interested in existing as a somewhat viable political party in an America dominated by a lying liberal tyranny.”
As opposed to what Dan? A non-viable political party the GOP would become if they supported Rush as the leader of the party? The more astute Republicans are trying to present the GOP as a party of ideas and not an entertainment sideshow deliriously spooning up the next conspiracy theory.
From my brief tenure on this site, maybe you subscribe to this model because this is your audience and path to “greater clickdom”. But tell me, how are you adding value to the discourse, beyond snark. What are doing to generate true change towards a center right agenda when you have the loudspeaker but so few words come forth?
Look, the DC GOP and the RNC are, with a sad handful of exceptions, trying to maintain their own little fiefdoms and their own private club. They won’t defend Rush, Palin, Beck, Levin or anyone else outside the club. And that includes we the GOP voters.
Make this next election a referendum on a corrupt incumbency that has long overstayed its welcome. Kick’em all to the curb.
“What are doing to generate true change towards a center right agenda…”
maybe you missed the past eight years, but the gop has been operating as a center right group, and look how far it got them.
I know- bush deficits bad, obama deficits good.
for the record, during 02-05, federal spending rose 22.8%, while gdp grew 9%.
hint: this is not a conservative model.
haven’t seen 06-09, but the trend is the same. govt grows faster than gdp. faster than a gdp that can’t support the current spending.
obama increase the size of govt, 18%, in his first budget year. gdp will be lucky to increase 2% in the same window. Center right? it still means going broke, only at 1/4 the pace of the democrats are on.
when obama is openly saying he can’t balance the budget in two terms in office, it embraces our national destruction.
Bwahahahaha!
“– It is a political lynching, after all. It looks as if they’re more interested in existing as a somewhat viable political party in an America dominated by a lying liberal tyranny. –”
They’re all against you Dan. No True Scottsman would tarnish the reputation of El Rushbo.
At the end of the day, there may a little bit of justice in this world after all. The thing Rush wants most in life (other than seconds on Oxy) is to get in with the NFL – anchor on ESPN, own a team, something! And a $400 million salary and a couple million cult adherents and the power over an entire political party in the most powerful country on earth, and he STILL can’t get what he really desires.
Haha! Ha! Hahahaha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
*giggles*
Most likely they simply figure that Rush can take care of himself just fine (they’re right) and there is less to gain than there is to lose from jumping into the scrum.
I’m laughing my ass off too…
the players are going to go on strike in the next 2 years.
one of the major factors they are banking on is the construction of new stadiums. eliminating the deep pockets of limbaugh brings the actual value of all the other franchises down. Salary cap won’t be set by the value of the stadiums, as the municipalites are the owners of the real estate. It will be determined by the going rates of the franchises.
If the salary cap is reduced by ‘only’ 5 million, it gets spread over 32 teams. It means that by lowering the potential value of the rams, the players stand to lose 1.6 billion in salary over a ten year run.
Classic lib philosophy. No consideration of finance, sink all the money into advertising.
Islamo – I wrote the first comment above and now I appreciate subtlety is not easy for the Right. I was sincerely asking what Dan was doing to improve the dialog and therefore the chances of increasing the GOP election fortunes. And this comes from a liberal. What you get back is dribble. No wonder the GOP is completely devoid of ideas. Who would listen?
Conservatives need to boycott the NFL. They want to act like that then fine lets not give them our money. Call and cancle your subscribtion to the NFL. Only after we use the lefts own methods against them will they stop their attacks on us.
“I was sincerely asking what Dan was doing to improve the dialog and therefore the chances of increasing the GOP election fortunes.”
hmmm…
generic ballots, anyone?
rassmussen, gop +2.
gallup, dems +2.
running 50-50 on a generic ballot is going to be devastating, going into the midterms.
this shift might be 10% gop efforts, but the other 90% is the fault of the far left democrats.
if the gop needs to recalibrate, after such a tremendous gain on the generic ballot,
it was +7 dem in 10/08 for rassmussen, and +12 dem on gallup, 10/08,
then what course would you recommend for the democrats?
if the parties were stocks, I would sell my dem shares and buy gop.
please note that the current house divide is actually 59% democrat. if the election was held tomorrow, the dems lose 30 seats, minimum.
Please do boycott the NFL. And please push your Republican lawmakers to defend Rush in public. Can’t think of a better image for Republicans than a fat, drug-using hypocrite. Oh yeah, rumor is he’s a sex tourist as well – middle-age single guy travels to known sex destination – Dominican Republic – with “borrowed” viagra. Just saying. We report, you decide.
It was a frigging business decision. The stupid thing was accepting him as a partner in the first plac.e Get over it.
“when obama is openly saying he can’t balance the budget in two terms in office, it embraces our national destruction.”
As opposed to those great Fiscal Conservative presidents that just lied their asses off?
“deliriously spooning up the next conspiracy theory”
Huh? Limbaugh mocks conspiracy theorists.
Is your ignorance intentional?
“Haha! Ha! Hahahaha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
*giggles*”
You’re a nasty, evil little thing, aren’t you?
“Can’t think of a better image for Republicans than a fat, drug-using hypocrite.”
how many times has patrick kennedy been in and out of rehab?
hmmm…Head of Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools protects pedophile. back to you “worst president ever”(glad you kept the moniker, as it proves very fitting.)
the gop was successful, especially in 94, with limbaugh at the front of the pack. why would that change?
it isn’t like he was campaigning for mccain.
“– As opposed to those great Fiscal Conservative presidents that just lied their asses off? –”
They haven’t had a President come close to balancing the budget since Nixon. We’re going to end this administration with another surplus, and a gang of screeching howler monkeys on the right screaming about the expired Bush Tax Cuts. And they’re still going to be calling themselves the party of fiscal responsibility.
A little follow up:
Mr. Crawford – please stay away from sharp objects
Mark L. – generic ballots? There’s no correlation here. A very quick scan of the data, ( http://www.pollingreport.com/cong_rep.htm ) shows the GOP trending down. In some polls, this spans many years. The GOP will have to change so much to reverse this trend, that you run the serious risk of becoming moderates.
Southdakotaboy – I agree with you. This is a situation where the market should decide the outcome.
Patrick Kennedy ain’t the face of the Democratic party. Few Americans would even recognize him in a picture. Rush, that’s something different. As for pedophilia, you might want to rethink raising that issue in a thread about viagra-smuggling Rush.
And if you’re talking about Kevin Jennings and the trumped up pedophila controversy, the kid was 16 at the time, which means he was of legal age of consent and there was no crime to report. Watching too much Fox News? Statistics prove it will make you stooopid.
“”"”"CNN’s Jessica Yellin reported that “the critics have also contended that Brewster was 15 at the time of this incident; the Fox News website continues to report that.” Yellin then aired an image of the student’s driver’s license, stating that it “verifies he was actually 16 at the time, not 15, which means that if there had been sex, he was actually the legal age of consent in Massachusetts.”"”"”
Again, getting rid of Rush was a business decision. And at last check, it’s still a right of business men to choose their own partners.
“We’re going to end this administration with another surplus”
is this present tense?
in the next 8 years, over 20% of the federal budget will be devoted to paying off the money we have borrowed.
at the current pace 50% of the federal budget will be for paying off our debt in 20 years.
genius.
polling report?
a fave site of mine, but rather out of the way to prove a point.
try:

maybe a little light reading?

sell dem, buy gop.
wpe?
he promoted pedophilia.
well within the legal definition. PLEASE defend this guy.
Mark L. -
This is a quote from the Bottom Line section of the Gallup poll you referenced:
“The challenge for congressional Democrats is underscored by today’s low approval of Congress. While it is far too early to say whether these indicators spell real trouble for the Democrats in 2010, they could provide some encouragement to the Republicans.”
So, I can see from your post that you’re taking that encouragement all the way ( buy GOP ). Good luck with that.
“Can’t think of a better image for Republicans than a fat, drug-using hypocrite.”
LOL!!! Your great Xerxes is an admitted cokehead!!
Only a half-witted troll could come up with an argument like that!!
Your little narcissistic empty suit is a great role model for all of those other little crack heads out there!!
And Lame-O has to have the best dipshit statement of the day award for the
“We’re going to end this administration with another surplus” line!!!!
You may be right if we can throw out all of the asshat Democrats like we did in 1994 when we forced the great dress stainer to move to the right. He had no choice but to work with the Republican controlled congress to get the balanced budget you trolls like to claim credit for!!
http://www.thepresidency.org/pubs/Triumphs_and_Tragedies/Balanced_Budget_Act_of_1997.pdf
Gotta love that whole revisonist history thing!!!
Next year the elections of 2010 will start the process to repeat the asskicking the trolls received in 1994!!
So keep up the “Teabagging”, “Rush is the leader of the Republicans” talking point mantra Soros and his pals are feeding you guys!! It’s working really good right now and in 13 months you can all crawl back under your rocks where losers like you belong!!
mmmmmmm!!!!mmmmmmm!!!!mmmmmmm!!!!!
“– he promoted pedophilia. –”
He counciled a kid dating an older man. There was no statutory claims and no crimes being committed. You’re bitter because he didn’t try to beat someone to death with a bible – understandable, because you’re a religious nutter – but all you can do is couch the claims in exaggeration because otherwise no one will care.
On the flip side, you’ve got 30 Republicans (all men) voting to defend a corporation’s right to rape it’s employees while they are overseas.
Perhaps if Kevin Jennings had been a Halliburton appointed arbiter, trying to protect corporate profits, you might have a kinder attitude towards him.
But it really goes to show what the party of “Moral Values” has fallen to when they’re ready to condemn a man for hearing about a legal and consensual affair between gays, but refuse to lift a finger to defend a woman who was gang raped by a bunch of old straight rich white men.
True, Obama did admit using coke and pot. Course he was in high school at the time. Rush though was a world famous entertainer who was telling his listeners that:
“Too many whites are getting away with drug use…Too many whites are getting away with drug sales…The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too.”
Like many, Rush got addicted to pain killers.
Like many, Obama snorted cocaine.
I’d probably take a pass at calling anyone who you push as the “face of the … Party” a “drug addict.”
Just sayin…
President Obama recently shifted authority for approving sales to China of missile and space technology from the White House to the Commerce Department — a move critics say will loosen export controls and potentially benefit Chinese missile development.
Yes a Peace Prize for weakening America!
I can’t too excited about pro football or Rush Limbaugh, although I do like and respect him more than Al Sharpton. I recall that none of the black baseball players minded going to the bank with Marge Schott’s money. What difference does it make? It’s all green. Bush pandered to the idiot right. Obama panders to the idiot left.
“He counciled a kid dating an older man. There was no statutory claims and no crimes being committed. You’re bitter because he didn’t try to beat someone to death with a bible – understandable, because you’re a religious nutter – but all you can do is couch the claims in exaggeration because otherwise no one will care.”
What a bitter, twisted little wanker . “islamofascist” is probably sitting in his mum’s basement jacking off to islamic beheading videos and wishing he had the guts to join the jihad. Ha, ha, “a kid dating an older man” …sure like your hero Polanski was just dating a 13 year old.
Crocodile Tears
“Major League Baseball hasn’t narrowed the list of the eight bidders seeking to buy the Washington Nationals and some Republicans on Capitol Hill already are hinting at revoking the league’s antitrust exemption if billionaire financier George Soros, an ardent critic of President Bush and supporter of liberal causes, buys the team.”
Dan, you bring up a good point. Steele missed a golden opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. he could have came out guns blazing in defense of Rush and turned a corner with many grassroots conservatives by going after Sharpton who is low hanging fruit for a black Republican like Steele and obliterated him for the sins of his past(brawley, duke, etc).
However, his silence speaks louder than if he had jumped on this political opportunity gone now for ever. I am still not convinced Rs take back the House in 2010, Steele has to up his game by more points than I think he has, as well as the GOP leadership needs to reign in their RHINOS before I would even speculate victory by an ability to take back the House. However, who am I other than someone Steele is betting on votes for an R next year as well as gives the RNC money. Hey Steele if you read this don’t count your chickens before they hatch.
“He counciled a kid dating an older man.”
council, condone…is there any difference?
only party. you must hog all the koolaid at parties.
it could be worse…
the guy could have been the Safe Intern Czar, who counciled the page who got mark foley’s email, to wear a condom.
WPE:
Link please…
On the surface, your quote seems to confirm our position…liberals are more inclined to character assassination than conservatives. Let me translate for you:
1. The Rush Situation – A public figure (citizen) wants to invest in a business that he cares about (pro football in St Louis) and his political opponents launch a coordinated attack on his character based on outright lies. As a result, the public figure is forced out of the business deal.
2. The Soros Situation – A public figure wants to invest in a business that he knows nothing about and your quote suggests that “some Republicans” are “hinting” that they “might” revoke something “if” the Soros group “buys the team.”
Here’s the difference – your side accuses us of threatening to slander our opponents…your side actively engages in the practice.
Waiting for the link…
Dan, perhaps they’re too busy working.

“The Dominican Republic is one of the most popular sex tourism destinations in the world, and it is advertised on the Internet as a “single man’s paradise. …
Gee, what would four middle-aged guys need to “fortifiy” themselves with viagra for their weekend jaunt to the Dominican?
The standards of this site were set by the owner, who “investigated” the murder of Bill Sparkman and conjectured he must be a child molester since when his hanged body was found, it was naked, and the guy happened to like working with youth.
As for Sorot / Limbaugh, the Republicans threatened to use their legislative power to punish a business – baseball – if it let an indifidual – Soros – buy in for no reason other than they didn’t like his politics. So much for Champions of Individual Freeedom.
But notice how WPE was clapping and cheering as Sheila Jackson Lee and other Obama Party members were making their blatant threats and statements on the House floor.
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/62981-house-dem-urges-nfl-not-to-let-limbaugh-buy-the-rams
Isn’t it amazing how that works? He criticizes Republicans, but he fully supports Obama Party members and Barack Obama when they do even more than he is criticizing Republicans for doing.
Funny how NDT likes to attack people for exercising their First Amendment Rights. Which is what Jackson did. As much as it pisses NDT off, it’s still a free country and Dems can say what they want.
Do even more? WTF? The Republicans threatened to remove Major League Baseball’s antitrust exemption if it allowed Soros to buy in. Hard to come up with anything that would scare baseball owners more than that. Dems have made no such threats to change any laws.
But you can always count on NDT to lie and bring up something completely unrelated to the topic under discussion.
Me, I don’t really care one way or another whether Rush buys in or not. His biggest problem is the Players Association doesn’t seem to like him.
“The Republicans threatened to remove Major League Baseball’s antitrust exemption if it allowed Soros to buy in.”
Actually, WPE, you were quite nicely humiliated on that one by ET above using your own quote.
“2. The Soros Situation – A public figure wants to invest in a business that he knows nothing about and your quote suggests that “some Republicans” are “hinting” that they “might” revoke something “if” the Soros group “buys the team.”"
In contrast, we have definitive proof and quotes of specific Obama Party members ranting and raving and making slanderous and deliberate threats on the House floor, and you insist that that is “First Amendment” covered and there’s nothing wrong with it.
But we understand that Sheila Jackson Lee is an incompetent black woman, so you aren’t capable of holding her accountable in the same way you do everyone else. Your motivations are solely based on skin color and political affiliation; your racist beliefs prevent you from treating these things fairly.
Actually, NDT seems to think every black is incompetent and probably a racist. Just saying.
Apparently John Ledecky got the “hint” cause Soros was dropped, kinda like Rush. Just the Dems never threatened to change laws to punish the sport.
“Washington entrepreneur Jonathan Ledecky, who heads the bidding group that Soros joined, said in an e-mail: “America’s pastime should be protected from the rhetoric of partisan politics. It’s unfortunate that the negativism that permeates national politics today is infecting Major League Baseball and the Washington Nationals.”
“Actually, NDT seems to think every black is incompetent and probably a racist. Just saying.”
Actually, I think the exact opposite; I believe black people are just as capable as white people and thus can and should be held to the same standards, rather than different ones based on skin color.
I believe that was reflected by a gentleman who stated that his hope was that, someday, people would be judged on the content of their character and not on their skin color.
Granted, that gentleman’s philosophy is completely disfavored in the Obama Party, but that hardly means I can’t follow it.
