Update: NY – 23: Enemies I Don’t Want To Have
Update: A clarification due to a misunderstanding with the RNCC. Apparently a "no call" subject heading was meant as a question, as in, why no call first? A fair question I am addressing with them in email. So the notion that they did not want a call was a misinterpretation on my part.
I was surprised to have gotten a Big Government link. And Stacy McCain updated after contacting Mike Long. I haven't had time yet to read his report. I wanted to clear this misunderstanding up ASAP.#
Throughout the NY – 23 fiasco, I've maintained my allegiance to the GOP. I believe a third party run would be a disaster. But new media is what it is. And when trustworthy sources give you information solid enough to run with, you do. I don't anticipate being the final word on the NRCC in NY – 23 story. My only desire is to get to the truth so it can help to build a stronger GOP. That is precisely how new media works.
Sometimes simply going with the party line does not accomplish what is needed. Ultimately, the truth that matters most here is what Party insiders discover for themselves, conveying it as honestly as they can. Don't shoot the messenger, especially when he's on your side and willing to hear your point of view.
Today is the first day I heard from an NRCC staff member in almost if not a year. Two lines in two emails instructing me of their denial, seemingly informing me not to call, that was it. Woot! Woot! Gee, should I feel a part of the team given that I've been carrying water for them gladly on my own for five years? Would I be allowed to call if I were part of the MSM? Ironic that I'd wager they'd happily talk to them and will, even if they aren't exactly on their side. Sorry if I'm not overly impressed by the NRCC's concerns when I am doing my best to be fair.
NRCC staff are said to be very angry about Riehl's report, so by all means, read the whole thing.
I've heard that the TCOT Report may be coming up with something new, as well. I don't know anymore than that.

Doug Hoffman (I/C, NY-23) has my support. He’s a much better than that sell-out RINO Scofflaw and her Dem-Socialist competition.
I guess I am no longer interested in what the RNC (or any other organization) does or doesn’t do or why.
If somebody puts up a candidate that looks like he or she can get the job done, I will support and vote for that candidate.. If they don’t, I won’t.
Why should any conservative take direction from the RNC. I hope the voters clean Scozzafava’s clock.
I can see why they might be pissed at you. I mean, who actually likes to be held accountable?
I’m foremost for a conservative candidate every time. I’m willing to compromise in a decidely liberal district, ie for a moderate. NY23 is conservative, and no compromise should be necessary.
Ahem… Conservatives and the NRCC no longer share the same goals. We essentially want to live our live with minimal government interference, and certainly nothing that resembles socialism lite. As the inevitable split grows wider, some of the RINO’s will plead that staying with them is the only way to defeat Socialism or worse.
The Tea Party movement is a reaction to republican irresponsibility, IMO. They are too compromised, and too tired to actually do what is best for our country. You see, this everyday biz of go along to get along is self defeating. What common ground do conservatives have with Socialists or Marxixts? So, compromise is actually appeasement, and that just doesn’t work out.
And so a call goes out to form a third party. Dan Riehl doesn’t agree. The NRCC isn’t listening, and frankly, from all I gather on twitter and other places, we really don’t care anymore. Look to the future, not the failures of the past. What can tired old men offer? Does the NRCC really understand how offensive their treatment of Sarah Palin was? It really doesn’t do to infuriate folks who know how to fight back. True, I’m just one voice among many, but I directly influence many in my community. So, a long fight in the backalleys has started. The unintended consequences of mistreating Sarah Palin, and the rank cowardice that was shown in a refusal to help defend her simply will affect the relationship between conservatives and repubs. At any strategy meeting that I attend, I will use whatever intelligence I’ve been given by the Good Lord to foment a complete break with the RINO’s.
Mr. Riehl hasn’t come to the realisation yet that The NRCC isn’t his friend either. He’s going to stay loyal to the repubs, but the fact that he even has to say such a thing is interesting, to say the least. This is a time when ANYONE can have his say, and some folks who really didn’t want to get involved, now have to to protect this country. We as a country know full well that the smartest among us don’t go into government service. But the second rate individuals who have got us into this mess have to go. 2010 is gonna be an eyeopening time. I’m going to do my part, but what I do isn’t for the RINO’s. They are our enemies, just as Chamberlain was the true internal enemy of Great Britain.
