Feingold: Get Out Of Afghanistan?
And so it begins. It looks as though Obama is going to face a little test. Considering he's been failing at everything else, is there any way this ends up good for Obama? Or, good for the troops? And other voices are calling for more troops, not a timeline. It's dejavu, or back to the Bush years, all over again.
Let's hope this doesn't become a nightmare for Obama. We want him rested if he ever gets that 3 AM call. Though I suppose he could always pull Hillary from State and re-assign her to the switchboard. heh!
Also, I see liberal Sherrod Brown just got back from Afghanistan. Hmm.
Sen. Russ Feingold, D-WI, called on President Obama to announce a timetable for withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan. "This is a strategy that is not likely to succeed," Sen. Feingold said about the troop buildup in Afghanistan. "After eight years, I am not convinced that pouring more and more troops into Afghanistan is a well thought out policy," said Feingold. The liberal Democrat said he has expressed his reservations with President Obama, Admiral Mullen, and others inside the administration and he says he has "never been convinced they have a good answer."

Where’s Cindy Sheehan btw? Did she make it up to the Vineyard?
The folllowing is a recording of hard hitting questions to the Obama admisitration from the main stream media….

I have been saying for a while that when the opium supply came under pressure, we would start to see politicians (not just US either) demand we exit Afghanistan. There are a lot of powerful people in this world who control a lot of money and are pretty intimidating who don’t want to see anything happen to the heroin supply. When the supply of opium declines, it potentially reduces the supply of heroin. People who make millions of dollars from the traffic of those drugs might be in a position to spend a few million greasing the right palms to protect their investment and cash flow. We have only just recently pushed into the major opium growing regions and have uncovered some rather large opium stashes. It will be interesting to watch how this plays out keeping that in mind.
But then again, he did the same thing just as the “surge” was getting underway in Iraq.
Maybe he is partial to preemptive surrender. If he is wrong, nobody will remember. If he is right, he can claim to be a prophet.
Question: When did Russ Feingold feel good about anything?
What a ninnying nabob of negativism.
Gus to FEINGOLD.
Get out of Wisconsin.
If you have a look at the casualty counts lately in Milwaukee, it is obvious the US should pull out of there too. Been there nearly 200 years and we still haven’t established law and order.
I agree crosspatch it’s all about the Heroin and without the necessary Poppy plant supplied nearly 90% via Afghanistan will cause the junkies to explode while the Taliban goes bankrupt.
This is probably the biggest failure of that part of the War. not shutting down the opium supply allowed the Taliban supporting Al Queda to continue to finance their terrorism acts.
We pushed them into Pakistan but we never cut off the money supply.
Scott, it is more about international organized crime. Russian mafia, US mafia, etc. A lot of people are making money off that heroin supply. They are going to protect that cash flow.
Drugs are Baaad.OK Mr Mackie.
As far as Feingold Not getting the memo about Afghanistan ,I guess hes been busy training his new next door neighbor buddy Franken on the ways of the world in the senate.
BTW Dan, does Hillary actually have a job? So far she let daddy get the girls,Hamilton hang with the Pali’s and for the most part just bore the russians with bad translations. If she was any more under the radar she’d be submerged.
hate to do it…
feingold is right. i’m not advocating a complete withdrawal, but downsizing the presense and the mission is the way to go.
Stan’s afghan, like Iraq is unwinnable. Its not a matter of if we get out but when. And just like Iraq, no matter when we get outy, the se states will revert to form as if we were never there. Both are a waste of time, treasure and blood.
