Updated: Coulter Needs A Rehab
Updated with video here.
I’m not going to attack Ann Coulter for exercising her right to free speech by calling John Edwards a faggot today at CPAC. For better or worse, it’s her right to exercise as she sees fit. However, the clearly too self-centered and all too self-promoting Coulter should be denounced for her selection of venue. And the group or individuals responsible for having the reckless, attention craving publicity whore at CPAC should denounce her and make it clear she won’t ever be invited back.
Forget about the speech, even if the Left won’t, what Coulter did amounts to the hijacking of an event meant for, evidently, far more serious minded individuals than she. It isn’t about you, Ann. In fact, a great many conservatives couldn’t care less if you breathe, curse, cavort, or simply pose.
Your actions at CPAC did nothing to advance the cause of conservatism in America; they accomplished just the opposite. I hope you’re proud, you insufferable self-indulgent political media equivalent to Anna Nicole. There but for the grace of a few hundred pounds go you, Ann. Eat more. Hell, you can choke on it for all I care.

Holy moley!
I applaud you, Riehl. I only wish you showed this much courage back when she called Bill Clinton a latent homosexual. You let it slide posting her words without condemning them:
http://www.riehlworldview.com/carnivorous_conservative/2006/07/coulter_clinton.html
You also didn\\\’t seem to mind when called Muslims ragheads at last years CPAC.
“He’s a faggot!”
No shit, she didn’t advance the cause of conservatism. Similarly, Michael Richards didn’t make many positive contributions to American race relations. The difference is that (whether or not he’ll admit it) he was drunk or high or something at the time, but Ann has been pulling this sixth grade trash talk routine for decades now and you guys still look at it and pretend that it’s Sophocles. Maybe you’re all just sobering up from the world’s longest trip.
I’d keep away from the orange juice…
“No shit, she didn’t advance the cause of conservatism.”
Her “cause” is inflaming moonbats, not playing to conservatives. She said exactly this in a Time (or maybe it was Newsweek) interview right after the 04′ election.
She believes energized and vocal moonbats increase republican turnout.
I wasn’t covering politics much during CPAC last year.
Good for you Dan. I’m glad to see someone else on the right that is sick of her.
This is why I don’t like her.
Dammit, I tried a trackback and it failed again. Typepad keep trying to make me do a captcha for a trackback – not possible! Anyway, I linked to this from my post (which has video!)
I get trackbacks all the time dont know what the issue is.
I like how everyone at the CPAC meeting clapped and cheered. This is the height of conservative humor, folks. She was right at home on “The 1/2 Hour News Hour”.
And while I’m touched that you’re offended by Coulter’s potty mouth, after the last half-dozen “OMGZ! AMANDA MARCOTTE!” posts, I wouldn’t cry too many tears if this sticks around the leftie blogsphere for a while. You might look hypocritical.
i’ve been pi$$ed at ann ever since her over the top comments about harriet miers. i agree she is a media whore, she’s also a witch (- w & + b).
“”However, the clearly too self-centered and all too self-promoting Coulter should be denounced for her selection of venue. “”
Yeah why does she keep selecting to be a speaker at CPAC each year. After last year’s “ragheads” comment surely she should have selected somewhere different for this year’s hateful remarks.
It’s the CPAC organisers I feel sorry for, what can they do if she decides to turn up each year to deliver vile addresses on their stage ?
I mean, after the “ragheads” deal last year why couldn’t anyone have come to their defence to convince Coulter not to be a keynote speaker at their gathering.
It’s almost the same as Al Gore turning up to the Academy Awards uninvited and his production crew deciding they would take an Oscar home against the academy’s wishes.
Weird thing… I have never seen Edwards come accross that way, if it was someone who was a little flamboyant, then we could say, “she is saying what we think.”
But its true, she is just trying to get people going… and it’s working…
just like when she we should go into foreign countries kill their leaders and convert everyone to chrisitianity… she even made fun of it.
I don’t love Coulter but she’s alright.
The Bitch of the Bon Mot.
Hmmm…let’s just say she isn’t improving with age. A little, or perhaps a lot, of sex would do her some good. At least that’s what I think.
As I posted in a similar thread over at Captain’s Quarters:
How civil is the average Lefty? Take Marcotte just to name one in the news off the top of my head. She was considered mainstream enough to be given a prominent campaign position.
One of the reasons Coulter is the way she is, is because she refuses to disarm in the conflict between the Left and Right. For the past several decades, the response of the Right to people like Franken, Rhodes, Marcotte et al has been to tut tut and call for civility. And we have been ignored.
This unilateral disarmament happens again and again, and some people get tired of lying down. Take Supreme Court nominations as an example. The Left savages Republican nominations like Bork and Thomas, (which causes timidity, and nominations like Breyer and Kennedy) but the Right allows Democratic nominations like Bader-Ginsburg to sail through. Do we get comity in return? No, we get shrill, partisan attacks against Roberts and Alito.
Why won’t you guys let abortion compete in the free market of ideas, anyhow?
What, Scar? I didn’t know there was a DOS for Republican women at abortion clinics.
Who the fukk is John Edwards?
Is he that goofball with the fat wife who wants to bomb Iran? Not Iraq, the USA is already bombing Iraq and already killing Iraqis for shits and giggles… Iran. You know, Iran, the country that DID NOT send hijackers on 911 (that was the Sunnis… that was Saudi Arabia).
Me, I served you pastie-faced pussies.
Destroy the neo-cons; Save America.
Yes, without Ann Coulter and Limbaugh and Savage and Glenn Beck and the crew of KSOU and Powerline and Drudge and the entire FOX News cast as well as the various elected politicians like Tancredo and Newt Gingrich and Richard “Fuck you Durbin” Cheney and Inhofe and Dolittle and DeLay and Cunningham and Ney and Falwell and Robertson and Haggard and the Discovery Institute and the CEI and the AEI and PNAC and Focus on the Family… who else is there on the right who will get out and raise the level of violent, meaningless rhetoric to that next level?
Remember, the first rule of mudslinging is “If I can find someone else doing something half as vulgar as I am, I’m in the clear”. The second rule, of course, is “Blame Clinton”.
Zifnab:
I can show you dozens of those on the Right condemning Coulter for her rhetoric (including the host).
Show me someone on the Left condemning Marcotte. Or Hamisher. Or Franken. Or Rhodes. Or Markos.
As much as I guess I understand that Coulter does this stuff to mirror the moonbat left’s similiar attacks I can’t agree to stoop to their level.
I wouldn’t be surprised that it’s Coulter who is gay. It did show she is a thoughtless person.
>Your actions at CPAC did nothing to advance the cause of conservatism in America; they accomplished just the opposite.
That wasn’t her intention to begin with. She wanted the lime light. Coulter was there to advance her foolishness in front of many.
This she did.
Coulter makes the Left look good and the Right a bunch of potty mouths who wallow in the gutter.
Zif, were you dropped on your head as a child? several conservatives here have openly said they disapprove of what she said and I’ve seen other Conservative blogs criticize her too.
So Zif, did you even read what Marcotte posted or are you talking out your ass yet again? Ann would have to spend a lot more time saying things like that to catch up to Marcotte. As I said, I don’t like Ann because of crap like this. Just classless.
Ann Coulter, free speech and what really irritates me (and it isnt Ann)
So bottom line, while I sometimes cringe at Ann’s comments, I am glad for them, glad she is blasting away at what she wants to and glad she is outrageous, because every time she pushes it too far, and generates outrage on both sides, she exposes the le…

I can show you some condemning her at last year’s before she was invited back to do the same thing again to wild applause. Using slurs like raghead and faggot for minorities that is. Thought this might have illustrated the hollowness of such condemnations but apparently not.
Meet you back here next year and we’ll do the same thing again. Talk about how people condemned her after she was invited back for another crowd pleaser.
Don’t get your panties in wad, ladies.
Kilo, why don’t you show us where you condemned Marcotte for her foulness? Or anyone on the Left? You know, so you won’t look like a hypocrite.
Coulter used to be a good debater and advocate for conservative causes. She is just a third rate celebrity now. I saw her on a talk show and when she should have been making conservative arguments, she as just giggling.
I hope Limbaugh does not go the same way, since he is very smart and very insightful. But his silly TV show and other nonsense is distracting.
I think we need some new conservative pundits. Hannity is dumb and self-centered, let’s talk about ME! ME!
Wait, Ann Coulter represents conservatives. Therefore everything she says is illustrative of conservatives in general. She is the true face and voice of the conservative movement.
And don’t think she won’t be used as such at every available opportunity.
Not invite her back?-Coulter is the star of the show! Romney introduced HER, she didn’t introduce the 2008 candidate. So who’s really the top dog?
All Coulter is doing is putting in laymans terms what the Republican anti-gay marriage really amounts to. That’s why she got applauded!
Now all you right wing bloggers are trying to hush her. Pathetic. Is she to be the only one with the courage of her conservative convictions?
CPAC 2007 [Weekend Open Trackback]
CPAC 2007. Blogosphere round-up: Captain’s Quarters, GOPProgress.com, Jules Crittenden, Hot Air, Riehl World View, Right Wing News, The American Mind, Power Line, Right Wing Nut House, The Corner, A Blog For All, Roger L. Simon, Sister Toldjah, The S…
“Now all you right wing bloggers are trying to hush her. Pathetic. Is she to be the only one with the courage of her conservative convictions?”
It’s because they are afraid of free speech that they are trying to *hush* her. You see, that’s what they hide behind whenever one of their loony heros produces such hateful rhetoric. BUT NOW, that the looniest of all of their heros is actually saying what the radical right all THINKS to be true, they can’t have it. The truth is dangerous and they understand this.
The radical right might be unhinged but they are not entirely stupid; they know that if the public is exposed to their actual fascist goals, and the bigotry that essentially draws them all together, the public recognize this and reject them as a hate organization.
I fully aplaud the she-winger that calls itself “Anne [sic] Coulter” for honestly displaying what the right really stands for in a frank and transparent manner. The fact that none of the GOP leaders have condemned her, and that she got tremendous applause last night, pretty much confirms that this is who they are.
This. Is. Who. They. Are.
Legalize, are you high right now?
If you aren’t, get high, if you are, come back in a few hours.
Because you aren’t making any sense…
People have been condemning her from the moment she said it, and no matter how many times this is said, the left will never condemn one of their own… but God forbid someone on the right says anything deserving of condemnation… then the left is up in arms.
In unrelated news, Bill Maher expressed disappointment that Cheney didn’t die Someone on the left? Say it was wrong of him…
Crickets? Dog bites man…
“She is the true face and voice of the conservative movement.”
Legal,
Did you really type that out for all to see? You, a lawyer, by god?
How about you type out that Cindy Sheehan is the true face and voice of the liberal movement. And mean it when you type it.
“This. Is. Who. They. Are.”
When a potential client comes to you, do you ask if they’re liberal or conservative? Do you deny the conservative even if it’s over a zillion-dollar divorce?
Horward Dean Expects Me To Denouce Ann Coulter For Saying Faggot (video)
I am outraged at the hateful bigoted remarks by Howard Dean. It is obvious he hates women, Republicans, and free speech. Howard YAAAEEEHHHHH Dean issued a press release filed with queer arguments.
…
Last time I checked, Bill Mahr wasn’t invited to speak at a major political group’s national conference. Last time I checked Cindy Sheehan wasn’t invited to make hateful comments at national DNC events. Last time I checked, “condemning” means saying that what she said was substantively “wrong,” not saying that what she said was wrong because it “hurts the conservative movement.” Given the litany of gay slurs that tend to populate this very blog and other rightie blogs, this comes as no surprise.
You aren’t fed up with her because she is hateful witch; you are fed up with her because she makes you look bad.
You know the difference. And all the rightie blogs know the difference.
“When a potential client comes to you, do you ask if they’re liberal or conservative?”
No. Which has what exactly to do with Ann Coulter calling John Edwards a “faggot”?
“Do you deny the conservative even if it’s over a zillion-dollar divorce?”
I don’t practice family law. Is there a point in here somewhere or are you just content to spout off about things you have no idea about?
Being intentionally obtuse is cute and all, but silly. I’m talking about CPAC; she was invited to speak; CPAC knows who she is and what she stands for; CPAC invited her to speak because of who she is and what she stands for.
“Last time I checked, Bill Mahr wasn’t invited to speak at a major political group’s national conference. Last time I checked Cindy Sheehan wasn’t invited to make hateful comments at national DNC events.”
CPAC isn’t a major political party’s convention, Legalize, “esq”
Is it really that complicated, this is not RNC.
And Sheehan has spoken at many liberal events such as anti-war rallies. If Coulter said this at a pro-war rally the left would still be flipping out.
BTW Legalize, there is a law firm here looking for an intern, you can advance your career… even though I doubt you are a lawyer.
“Which has what exactly to do with Ann Coulter calling John Edwards a “faggot”?”
Lawyers supposed to speak and write English good, right? That was an very not well worded sentence. You, at least, put the question mark outside of the quotation mark
“In unrelated news, Bill Maher”
not so unrelated after all. according to coulter, she and maher are friends.
Well, might as well post this here.

I didn’t say, “politcal party,” detective.
“And Sheehan has spoken at many liberal events such as anti-war rallies.”
And? *Hint*: this is the part where you argue how speaking at anti-war rallies is comperable to calling John Edwards a “faggot,” Jeffery.
“If Coulter said this at a pro-war rally the left would still be flipping out.”
Rightfully. Calling someone a “faggot,” whether he is or not is shitty frat-boy nonsense. One says such things in anger or with anamice.
“BTW Legalize, there is a law firm here looking for an intern, you can advance your career… even though I doubt you are a lawyer.”
Yes, I’m terribly concerned with what a twerp with no legal training or experience thinks about advancing my career.
“Which has what exactly to do with Ann Coulter calling John Edwards a “faggot”?”
“Lawyers supposed to speak and write English good, right? That was an very not well worded sentence. You, at least, put the question mark outside of the quotation mark”
It was a properly worded sentence. In any event, gramatical critiques are pretty funny coming from someone who didn’t put a period at the end of his sentence, and who uttered, “[i]s it really that complicated, this is not RNC” without putting a question mark after the word “complicated,” and who did not start over with a new sentence at “this”.
Do you really want to get into a battle of sentence structure and grammar, Jeffery? Oh, and “esq” should be capitalized. It is also an abreviation for “Esquire,” and should thus be followed by a period.
Ok, you win.
Sorry, you burned me. You are right, I misquoted you, a political group, not party.
And CPAC isn’t a political group, its an ideological group.
Have fun at your “law firm.”
“The Legalize firm, where everyine is pro bono, and the lawyers don’t know latin.”
(Remember when you said the definition of pro bono is “for free”?)
Good times!
“”"Kilo, why don’t you show us where you condemned Marcotte for her foulness? Or anyone on the Left? You know, so you won’t look like a hypocrite.Posted by: templar knight “”"
I’ve never written about her or anything she has said or published, save for pointing out on that Feministe (?) that you’re an idiot if you think making such statements doesn’t disqualify you from more prominant writing poisitions.
Something which the Pandagon blogger reinforced when she was forced to resign from Edwards’ campaign and Coulter disproves with every column she publishes and keynote address she delivers at conservative conferences.
Does that make me wrong or right ?
Either way, it’s nice to see that the author of the Pandagon blog is now mentioned alongside major media and religious personalities as she rightly deserves to be. You know, being such an influential blog and all. I can find JihadWatch on Technorati’s blog rankings but not her’s. Might be a clue.
Legal,
“Being intentionally obtuse is cute and all, but silly.”
Yeah, I know. Unlike using your own words against you. You can’t stomach that, you sissy.
“Ok, you win.”
I’m kinda obsessive about that fact being the general case.
“Sorry, you burned me. You are right, I misquoted you, a political group, not party.”
Accepted. You forgot to apologize for your being wrong about my English-usage, in light of well … you know. But it’s ok; I know you feel bad about it.
“And CPAC isn’t a political group, its an ideological group.”
Whatever you say, my man.
“Have fun at your “law firm.”"
It’s not mine; my name isn’t over the door yet. But give it 30 years or so.
“”The Legalize firm, where everyine is pro bono, and the lawyers don’t know latin.”
(Remember when you said the definition of pro bono is “for free”?)”
Good times!”
Actually, I think I said, “that means ‘for free,’” which was techinically incorrect, but, in practice, de facto correct. But then again, I’m not the one who purports to “burn” people on their grammatical errors, in lieu of having nothing substantive to argue.
*******
“Yeah, I know. Unlike using your own words against you. You can’t stomach that, you sissy.”
And this is in reference to …?
CPAC is Shocked–Shocked!–by Ann Coulter’s Remark
Who knew that Coulter would say something that would give liberals an excuse to attack conservatives?
Last time I looked at a Democratic National Committee convention, Michael Moore was sitting in the Presidential Box with Jimmy Carter…
Good for Dan, coming out against Coulter. But I’m afraid the concept of ‘free speech’ is still a liiiiittle complicated for Danny. Take it slowly, Dan. Coulter’s right to free speech isn’t impinged by you, a blogger, calling her, a columnist, out for her opinions. If she’s an idiot, say so. She’ll still be able to air her opinions tomorrow. You’re not the government, granted powers to stifle, imprison or throw about notions like ‘prior restraint.’ You don’t have to show your work every time you hand in your homework.
Hey, someone just brought up Michael Moore. God he’s fat! Now let’s all remember what Moore has supposedly done, and ask ourselves honestly if it involved (a) calling for the assassination of Supreme Court justices (b) calling a president a ‘rapist’ (c) calling a presidential candidate a ‘faggot’ (d) sliming the widows of the 9/11 disaster (e) expressing disappointment that the 9/11 terrorists didn’t hit the NYTimes building instead (f) inspiring Chad Castagana to mail anthrax to Olbermann, Jon Stewart and others or any of (g) through (zz), all of which are beneath contempt. No? Moore made a film that was accurate except for that bit about the Conoco pipeline in Afghanistan. The comparison rather falls apart on its own inanity. Marcotte? She made a couple of ugly posts about religious fanatics and for two weeks worked for a candidate. Sorry, she doesn’t come within a million miles of Coulter.
For people so opposed to manufactured moral equivalency, you suuuure have do a lot of funny-looking logical gymnastics on the subject of Ann Coulter. If you’re going to repudiate her, repudiate her, period. Have some balls, for chrissakes. Dan did. The silly comparisons only make you look stupider and more namby-pamby than you did before, and that’s saying something.
In the future, you’re going to face the choice of evicting the bigots from your party, or going down with them. 2008 will be the turning point of so-called ‘conservatism.’ If, in 2009, having lost the presidency and even more Senate seats (the map is pretty bad for you guys), there’s still a featured slot for Coulter at the CPAC, it might be time to think seriously about your party affiliations. Not for me to say, but really. She and her types are your own, special anchors. Enjoy carrying them.
well, I must say it’s nice that Dan can, at least, appear to be sane once in a while.
I’m surprised there’s been no mention of Ward Churchill yet. Have wingnuts finally accepted only they give a shit about the guy?
Christ, he came to speak at the new school and got about as hostile a welcome as mccain did.
Honestly, tho, do you on the right not see the childishness of your tactics here?
Coulter did something wrong.
Trying to turn that into an excuse to whine about lefties you don’t like only proves you don’t understand the nature of her mistake, which is to say you leave yourself open to charges of supporting a bigot.
Well done.
